The Ross Saturday 8/23

It was a blistering hot day at the Ross Saturday. We had the wreck to ourselves Saturday considering sensible fishermen stayed home due to the intense heat. The Kings and Cobia didn’t seem to mind though. My brother Bill landed a 33" King and my son Mike boated two Cobia about 30" each. All were released. The Kings were close to the boat and mostly attacked free-lined big pogies. We had several break-offs with 30 lb fluro leader. I tried adding a thin steel leader but the water was very clear and the bite was near the surface. We couldn’t drink enough water to stay properly hydrated. Fortunately we had a hard-top on the 22ft Pro-Craft to hide under. Lesson learned… Wait until late September when cooler weather prevails.

nice report… i waited for Sunday and it was wee bit windy for me to go out… stayed inshore on the broad and caught sharks…
