Parents went to the beach this past week. They were down there near hilton head. She said there was a fishing pier called the sands. Anyone ever been there? do they allow shark fishing? I cant find anything online about it.
In Port Royal (Beaufort) which is about 45 minutes from Hilton Head, there is a public boat launch and beach area known to the locals as “The Sands” it has a wooden walkway that runs parallel to the shore which many fish from. It is not out on the ocean, but inshore on the waterway. It is a public access and free. Not sure if there is a different “Sands” on Hilton Head, but this is the only “Sands” I know of. I live about 15 mintues from it. Port Royal sound is know to have large sharks come in as it is deep water (average 40’).
Another place to shark fish would be at the Broad River Bridge (Hwy 170). At the foot of the bridge is a section of the old Broad River Bridge that was left in place for the public to use. Many fish off the end for Shark, Cobia, or Black drum. It is free with plenty of parking.
