If seas are over 4’, then the monohulls get an automatic handicap. Nobody will be able to keep up with the catrageous or jason’s cat… whatever they are calling her now.

I’m glad you realize cat hulls raise fish.

Purpose…
I am talking about your pictures. I have seen more grouper and snapper on trips with “On The Mark” and SkinneeJ, than on any of your bottom trips. I would stick an icepick in my eye if I ran with you and that was all the fish we caught. I have been with Sells, and we caught 27 grouper in 3 hours. I have seen these boys catch 500 lbs of quality bottom fish in just a few hours. They are fishing animals! I hope we can pony up some money $$$$ could be fun!
I know the difference. These were Recreational limits. 5 Grouper per person. A charter catch should also be the same unless you have a federal Snapper Grouper complex permit.
I don’t have the pics. Sellsfish, On the Mark, and SJ have them. Or you can go over to the other site and see for yourself.

What brand spearguns shot the two in this report, and what kind of gear killed the snapper of old that you linked to?

That is funny!</font id=“size4”>
Anyway, just so you are forewarned, people are going to make fun of you about that “calling out charter captains” comment. You haven’t earned your wings yet in Charleston. That’s all I am saying. You can catch 100,000 Red Snapper and 1,000,000 grouper in Florida, but until you can do it in Charleston, then you haven’t earned your wings.
That snapper was a trophy fish to us. I have been fishing this area for 6 months without the help from locals. I am not complaing about that. I expect to earn my own. I am taking my commercial skills and applying them to this area. For us to catch that snapper on a rod and reel was quite a relief. I am not too proud to receive help from those who have gone before me. But, in the meantime I will stick to my methods and hopefully continue to improve fish catches.
Thanks for clearifing and I probably should have a little thicker skin on this one. But, as said before me and Phin put in a lot effort and trips and money to get that snapper on our own. That is probably why the hint of sensitivity on our parts.
Hopefully we will get numbers as good as yours so we can always go right to the ARS. We are working on it!
Feel free to drop bombs for such transparency!

Why is an alias on this thread talking trash?
I don’t understand the need for that…
And I don’t understand why a thread is posted talking trash to a charter report (yes, I posted a report for a captain because I was on board as the mate and the thread was intended to provoke such discussion!) when your report was about losing a couple fish with rod and reel and then diving down to turkey shoot and pick and choose 2 big snapper and 5 grouper staring you in the face, while only one snapper was better than what was caught by us with rod and reel.
Lame.
That cornball is burnt, dude. Take the hushpuppy out before you ruin the grease. Come back with some pix as yourself on your own instead of hating on somebody else when they do half way decent on the bottom during a dead summer trolling bite.
If you come on here with pix of great fish, at least qualify it with the amt of hours and assistance from others you have received. At least those who’ve helped you would appreciate the credit.
If you have not received any assistance from others at all, i.e. being given the numbers, then call it “finding a spot” as I do… and be proud of it. I didn’t make a report calling out somebody else in a matter akin to killing 3 trophy bucks in a weekend with a 9mm when the other guy killed one with a bow and arrow a couple days before.
Change the grease soon man. It’s burnt.

And no disrespect is meant to the actual identity of said alias.
I know how good you are. (seriously) When you are really good at what you do, you will enjoy to teaching and sharing with others as Capt. Brown has been doing and Purpose One has started doing. Skinnee has given you credit though… so I guess I am preaching to the choir. Or drawing a similarity??? When a guy who has never bottom fished before can get a gag or ARS up with a 4/0 off the very bottom… then somebody needs credit for that… it isn’t something you can just go out and do these days without being very lucky. If you don’t agree to that, then you are belittling your own ability and accomplishments.
right?

If you really think that lil fish and I are the same, then you sir are a jackass… I don’t use aliases. I feel pretty good about my ability to argue with both you and porpoise one at the same time. You were doing well until you went all pansy like porposeone.
phin, Lil fish is a real person. he has fished with me and Chris , as well as with skinny J and Gregg. His name is Jason.
I’m sitting this one out.

Let’s do two “fish off’s”. First we whip your ass bottom fishing. Then, you and the mighty charter captain strap on some air and meet us on the bottom for a good old fashioned spearing ass kicking at 100’. What do we win?

As far as time, we did not have the best bottom fishing captains in Charleston to help us.

Also, can I have the #'s to where the tug accident happened? I bet there are some killer snapper there!
Why don’t ya’ll great fishermen just stand on the dock and see who can whizz the farthest. It would be just as meaningful and you wouldn’t have to clean fish afterwards:smiley:
