They're HERE!

Willie (left) and Jimmy (right) took this 20.15 lb cobia today in the Broad. They had the usual baits…greenies, etc. This fish decided to bite a bit of dead shrimp fished on the bottom for whiting and drum. The fish was weighed around 2 p.m. by Michele while I was at Beaufort Boat & Dock. (By the way…they have ALL your cobia fishing needs!)

It’s ON! :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s game on now…thanks Jim for taking time to post it.

So what’s the best Cobia bait? That chunk of dead shrimp might change everyone up!

< Evil is simply the absence of God >

I was fishing off the broad river pier and caught several large greenies - bigger than my palm.

We do not rise to the occassion…but fall to the level of our training

Son of a gun…had a charter planned for today but cancelled due to rain. Wish the rain could have held off for a day or two.

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.

That’s a salty looking pair of anglers right there :sunglasses:

I think a few people have been holding out and being real quiet. The sound of crickets

Brian McCaffree caught another small, but legal cobia right after these guys left…he sent me a photo yesterday afternoon. Brian is obsessed with cobia and if he or Ross Holmquist can’t catch 'em, they aren’t around.

He caught another today…

Glad someone is catchin’ some. I seen a whole squad of them run right in front of me last Wed. i’m guessing 12-15, right at change of tide. Nothing real big, they all looked 35-40" to me.

A few years ago, Brian was the cobia man. He was on a 26 Glacier Bay, but I think he has his own bay boat now.

BG

He still is…he fishes his inshore boat as well as the Glacier Bay cat.

Thanks for the post! Been planning my pilgrimage for two months now! Storing the crappie rigs and breaking out the salts!

Ross sells RV’s. He can’t catch a cobia. He uses big lots hooks that don’t work.

HH,

I thought I was the only guy putting up the microlite and 6lb test to get out to big meat sticks this time of year. Cleaned a nice mess of crappie last weekend and weather depending will be headed down for cobia one of next two weekends.

Give a holler on here when y’all are actually coming down…good to meet new folks.

I am healing up from surgery but should be back on the water soon. i mentioned wanting to go fishing soon. Nurse said only small fish…It was like she knew me:smiley:.

Provided NAPA gets my new power steering pump here tomorrow I am headed down as soon as I get it installed. It decided it wanted to puke fluid all over the driveway when I was hooking the boat this AM! Better here than on the side of the road! Where were you fishing Palmettores? We had been hitting Greenwood with several 2 limit days…I had to go back to that four letter word WORK for 3 weeks…
If you see a Keywest 186 Bay Reef stop over and say hi!
