I slipped out with Grace last Saturday for a day in the surf. We tried to get some mullet in the cast net, but had no luck. We did run into a snake basking in the sun, and ran into a little gator warming herself in the grass by my bait hole. Headed to the beach and started at low tide and fished the in coming tide. My spot looked flat, and no structure to work beyond a good slope on the beach. The wind was ripping and it took 5ou for bait to hold to the bottom. We chucked shrimp and cut whiting we caught. The action was slow, but not dead. We ended up with 4 whiting, 6 medium sized rays, one arm length shark and pulled one 24 inch red. That’s my first red this season that wasn’t a rat red. The water felt warm and at least things are starting to pick up. As long as I have hope and opportunity, it’s enough. Wishing the best to all, and good luck this season. Grace had a smile from ear to ear.
good to at least get out! i dont remember the slot in sc was that red good to keep or he have to go back? been a bit since i last beach fished in sc.
Yep, the water temp is ALREADY coming up. The bigguns should be moving back in. But with the Sharks already bitting, I won’t be throwing cut bait much longer. Good looking Red Pete! Grace does look happy also!
Great pics Pete, beautiful sunset and good to see Grace up and about , she does have that smile again.

Mr. Nuke 3 per person per day. 15-23 inch slot. He went back. Gail Grace looking pretty good, hope that other leg holds up. Mr. Parker we need to get out, will holler at you in the next couple of weekends.
so close to blackened redfish fillets, but no shame in tossing one back either. 5 per person at 14-23" in georgia and 2 per person 18-27" in the zone i fish in florida. only ones ive beached this year were 40" each but we got a cooler snap so well see what happens with water temps. cut whiting were the ticket for both bulls for me as well. ive seen a couple boats out just off the beach for black drum but havent heard any reliable reports of them yet. hear of any black ones running close in sc yet?
