What are the thoughts on one of these? $1850 plus add a small motor. Fits in back of a truck with a bed extender. Pretty cool little one man boat/yak/thing…
That actually looks pretty cool. Would be nice if there was a place to store a paddle/pole to use it kayak-like when you wanted to go stealth. I’m assuming with a motor it has to be registered and have numbers. I bet a 5hp would push that thing pretty well.

Saw one up close the other week. I was a little disappointed in the storage, but it some pretty nice lines and the dude said it tracked better than expected. He had a pool cleaning rod with a duckfoot for poling(cooler for platform).

Cool thing on the one I saw, its a type of roto-mold and foam construction, and most of the inside looked to be accessible. Any of the Yak attack/Ram etc, kayak rigging would fit anywhere you wanted it. Not a substitute for an actual boat in all situations, but would allow you to reach out to areas that are a bit out of paddling range…

Honest answer, I don’t really like it. That large cut out motor well just reduces buoyancy, stability and usable space. On a boat that small the transom needs to be at the transom where that pipe thing is. Basically that is a 12’ boat that is 14’ long.
Something more like this…
If that picture doesn’t work see this…
Edit: I didn’t think that pic would work. See link.

P-K I hope you are joking, because I don’t think I would argue with Larry about what makes a good boat, or about his boating experience.
Look at the picture of the guy picking up a fish. Doesn’t look very stable to me.
I have owned a canoe and a kayak with full transoms and I enjoyed the extra space.
Buoyancy does not seem to be an issue with those boats, but all boats need to be able to carry as much junk as possible.
If you don’t mind the extra weight, a wide body canoe with square back will run in thinner water, faster, and with more storage than most kayaks and boats of that style. Besides, with a canoe you can get up and throw a cast net without even a wobble.

Imo a small jon boat would be about the safe boat with triple the capacity. And you candle drag a jon boat across oysters.

has PK or anyone else fished out of one?
I fish alone and this intrigued me.

There is one person I would never question when it comes to boats and boat building.

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Well sir, I am a flats boat designer, a builder of custom flats skiffs and a marine surveyor, as well as do repairs and restorations. I’ve been doing it for 40 years, so I know something about boat design and the attributes and drawbacks of most designs. The OP asked for opinions and I feel qualified to give mine. I don’t have to own a boat to see it shortfalls.
No I don’t own one and I never would. I don’t think it’s a good design. Of course I haven’t bought a production boat in over 30 years, not many meet my standards, I build my own boats.
I’m sure it works well for you and you are obviously happy with it. I’m not saying it is a bad boat, but I’ll stick with my statement that it would be a better boat without that silly motor well cut out and the engine on the transom.

Don’t, every time I’m supposed to meet him to fish he shows up an hour early and leaves before I arrive. Dummy needs to get a new watch. Brings it on himself.
