Tidal creek rental

I am looking at a rental house in the tidal creek basin that is between the marina and mouth of the creek. I am told that at low tide there is no water in the channel and my boat would be on mud. Does anyone know how navigable that channel is and how long at low tide I would be stuck from getting out into the creek?

Thanks

That is correct. Mud at low tide. Never tried to navigate it. I also looked at a rental property years ago on the yacht basin but decided against it for that purpose. Instead rented a place on Big Bay creek with a deep water dock and it was awesome

I have looked at rentals on the creek as well and may end up going that direction. I liked the rentals in this little basin because they are a little cheaper than creek rentals and the houses are across the street from the beach.

Definitely dry @ low water - I would stay away from rentals unless you do not care about using your boat from there

You gotta love the South Carolina Lowcountry.

That’s not really a tidal creek. It’s a basin that was dredged out years ago. The home owners around it discovered that it’s too expensive to dredge the thing every five or so years, so they’re letting it return to marsh. No water at all at low tide.

Thanks for the guys. If it goes totally dry then I am thinking I would be limited a couple of hours on each low tide for getting out. Does this sound about right or would it be more? I have a 21 ft bay boat that will draft around 18 inches or so I imagine.

Id watch out for boat wakes at near low can make a mess of your anchored boat! Ck vrbo edisto. com for rentals with docks or dock acess!

Seriously, go to big bay creek on deep water. It’s worth every penny more if you have a boat and plan to fish.
