Anyone have a guess as to what a shark that big would sell for? My guess is 3 or 4 bucks a pound.

Long lining and hate to say it, trawler net drag shrimping, are really inefficient fishing methods. The bycatch often outnumbers the target species and a lot of that bycatch is ‘wasted’ unless you like feeding pelicans and seagulls.
trawling/bottom dragging is the real cause of our decline in fish stock. Huge numbers of small fish and support system are routinely wiped out. Like a giant eraser going across the bottom.

Unfortunately the commercial sharking industry has been the demise of recreational sharking as well over the last 50 years. For those of us who have taken sharks while rec fishing and actually eat them, it has always been waiting around to see which one of our coastal species will be the next to be put on the list. It’s really ridiculous that these guys can go out and absolutely slay tons of bruisers and those of us who get down to the coast , maybe 4 times a year, can’t even harvest one friggin sandbar or dusky. Ridiculous.
Well that would suck if my son couldnt surf fish cause someone wanted a bowl of shark fin soup.
