Tiger shark

Did anyone see this shark in person? I would think a 14 ft shark would make a 25ft center console feel a little small.

EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) – At an annual shark tournament, a fisherman just missed the deadline to enter a massive 14-foot, 1,100-pound tiger shark.

According to the South Carolina Sportsman, Cal Young and his three-man crew pulled in the shark and worked their way back to the docks at Edisto Watersports and Tackle.

Unfortunately, the crew was too late for the deadline to enter it in the contest.

Young told the SC Sportsman they fought the shark for nearly two hours about 20 miles off the coast. Young said they were concerned the shark would tip their 25-foot center console boat, so they opted to drag the shark at low speed behind the boat.

According to SC Sportsman, Young made it back to the dock at 9 p.m. and officials tried to hang the shark from the scale at the dock but its nose was still resting on the dock.

When they hung it off the dock, the shark’s nose was in the water because of the incoming tide, the website reports.

My neighbor showed me a picture of the shark from his iPhone.

There was another decent size shark being lifted on Friday (Thursday or Friday; still on vacation) at EWS.

i understand the fish was harvested and meat was divided out… but they knew they were not getting that shark in the boat… they knew they were not going to make weigh in…

its a hell of a catch non the less just wish the rules for tourney’s had more repercussions for late fish or late arrivals…(excluding vessel failure)… you know if it wasn’t for a tourney that fish would still be swimming and probably just had the hook cut…

This makes you appreciate Walt Maxwell’s two fish even more when you read about the trouble it takes even when you have a boat as a luxury when landing huge sharks. I want to see the finished jaw on this guy.
