Tire Reef 4-26-14

Left dock around 9:00am in search of spadefish and cobia at the Tire Reef with young newlyweds Stephen and Evan Page… Found jelly balls scattered in Calibogue and off the beach . Saw a baby leatherback in the sound. Nice big pogies on beach right before Home Depot. On they way out saw a small tripletail underneath small piece of wood. We threw several artificals which were followed by the elusive tripletial but he was spooked by the boat. Headed on out , seeing a large Leatherback.

Anchored near buoy in hopes of pulling some spadefish off the bottom. Never saw any spades or cobia. Understand the Gullough Gal hooked up one at least on cobia- so they are here.[:I]

We caught two very large flounder ( largest 25+) on live menhaden on the bottom- both caught within 10 minutes. Congrats to Evan for largest flounder of the day . Also caught blackfish, big ray, bluefish . Very windy NE wind- not as rough as you would expect with the wind howling.

We had a great first trip of the year- looking forward to next trip next weekend.

nice flatties!

Good job Russell. Thanks for the report.

Didn’t realize you still headed out that far Russ ? Good job on the flounder. Checked on your house at Capers today. Pitiful. At least it looks like a “Bugar Trask” property now.

Thanks Bill. The price of camp membership is really low at this time- please submit your application today for approval. What is your estimate for how long how house will remain standing?

Also, do you fish any more? Have not seen any recent posts. I see Capt Frank Gibson is catching fishing almost every day!
