Tis the Season

I don’t think there is a prettier picture to be found in December than a pair of pointing dogs. Might be my age. Had the chance the past few day to work my two bird dogs. Leroy the darker dog is 9 months old this week. No problem holding point and most of the time he backs my other pointer if she points first. Quail hunting is a great change of pace from fishing even if you have to plant your birds.

That’s a pretty sight! I grew up hunting quail in Tx and hunted partridge and woodcock in the deep woods of maine when I lived there for a few years. Those suckers make quail hunting look easy.

Yep, Woodcock are a challenge. Two years ago we had a wet fall with some nice cold fronts and we had some Woodcock at the Webb Center. Great fun.

As least we don’t have to plant our own fish

That is good stuff there.

I used to be in a hunting club near Augusta and every year I would plant the transmission R/W near my stand with a variety of seed.

Anyway, when walking to my stand I would sometimes spook a covey up (wild birds)…wow…talk about scare the crap out of me…lol.

Cool pics of your dogs working!
