When using fresh shrimp do you peel them or not?
Don’t peel. The shell will help it stay on the hook.

If I use cut shrimp, I cut it with a razor or a sharp knife. If there are shreds dangling off the edges , that will invite pin fish to grab the shreds and pull your bait off. If I use cut shrimp in the shell I remove the legs for the same reason
Agree with using something sharp for cutting. My “Shrimp Knife” is a cheapo $1 store serrated steak knife. Been cuttin’ Shrimp and bait fish with it for well over a decade. My friend runbabyrun uses a pair of sharp kitchen shears that work well.
I don’t fuss with the legs. The way I hook the pieces makes it little more difficult to just “pull” off.
Double hooked, spanning a joint, Hook point buried…yeah BURIED! Never have any troubles with hook ups an rarely get cleaned off.
We don’t see many, if any, Pinfish in the surf down here. Farther north say from Pawleys Island up the Pins are THICK!
