To the asshole at Seabrook inlet around 6pm

If you are reading this - and you are that **** head that buzzed the beach 20 yards out at full speed and cut off two of my rigs and almost hit me in the kayak - I hope karma comes back around.

This guy in a 11’ or so center console ( with passenger ) comes ripping full speed into the Edisto at Seabrook about 20 yards off of shore.
I was out dropping a bait in the kayak, and he was an easy 30 yards inside of me to the beach. There were children swimming there as well.
Lost all the top shot on my 50w, a few big rigs, and the top shot on my 15.
What the **** is wrong with people? I would love to be able to find this guy’s info.

Sorry requiem. I enjoy your usual posts

can you clarify the logistics, please

  • you say in the first sentence he was running 20 yards off the beach. then you say he was was an ‘easy 30 yards inside of me to the beach’

so you were 50 yrads off the beach and he ran in between you and the beach ? (20 off the beach and 30 from you?)

did the boat have dual power poles ?

Sucks, but the chances that person is a member of this board and reading this thread is probably about 1 in 100.

I would think the chances of him at least reading on cf.com is greater than that. Lord only knows if he was on here and read it he wouldn’t say anything.

Key West 2300 Bluewater

I was out about 50 yards in the kayak and he drove in between me and the beach.

What are you fishing for with a 50w on a Kayak?
Shark, or big reds?
I also agree that that was a d bag thing that guy did.

The kayak was to drop baits, but yes sharks

Next time get a picture. Somebody will know or find him

I want to catch them all

I get it now. I never thought of that.

I don’t understand people either. I quit going to Remley’s because people run their boats at full speed just yards outside of the ramp’s protective barrier, throwing massive wakes onto people trying to launch or retrieve their boats. There is plenty of room out in the harbor, but there are so many knuckle heads to zoom past oblivious to their wakes against the ramp.

Then there are boaters that will zoom inside of 100 feet of you while you are on anchor with lines out. Sometimes you are afraid they are going to snag your anchor line or catch a fishing line and pull a rod out of the holder.

So really, what is it with guys that zoom so close by when they have half a harbor to give way?

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Do you get drunk?

Next time you come in, come heavy, or not at all…

Have you been on the water lately?

Luckily, I am retired and have the option to stay on the hill during weekends.
Haven’t been out on a weekend in years.
Number of posts about bad boating behavior has increased in direct proportion to the increase in population here in the LC.

Iggy, not sticking up for the guy but if I saw a kayak 50 yards from the beach I’m not so sure I would put 2 and 2 together that you were running out fishing lines. But on the other hand I am smart enough to know that running 20 yards WOT from a beach is not the smartest thing to do, and wouldnt do that. That comes from a guy who has a scar from the 38 stiches it took to put my foot back together from being ran over by a boat in the Colorado River while sitting on an innertube.

From SCDNR handbook.

All Boats

In South Carolina, vessels may not be operated in excess of idle speed within 50 feet of an anchored vessel, wharf, pier, dock, or a person in the water. Vessels may not operate in excess of idle speed within 100 yards of the Atlantic coastline (Sec. 50-21-870).

lets get him !

This has happened to me on two previous occasions, Iggy. First time it was off the beach at Garden City. Some clown tooling down the surf line just behind the breaker line in about 8 feet of water. I am in my old Zodiac type inflatable rowing out two baits on 80 lb dacron. This guy has the entire ocean to deal with and no lines in the water. Just joy riding up the beach with passengers, basically thru a swimming area. It was just before dusk so maybe he didn’t see the lines, but there were still a few swimmers up the beach. I saw him coming, but since I had just cleared the breakers and was maybe 60-75 yards out, i figured he would see me and just cut out around the offshore side of me. Nope. he was running wide friggin open and i tried to unsnap my clips in time, but he zipped right through one line. I managed to drop the other over to fish up after he had passed. The other time i was dropping in my yak around the bend off Edisto off the sound. I’m like 150 yards out and a guy comes zipping around through the cut and I guess I just diddn’t see him or hear him in time. That one was my fault for sure. Tried to dump the fish, but too late.
Over the years i’ve yelled at more than my share of idiots driving practically thru breaking surf to catch ■■■■■■■ while we were either swimming or surf fishing. DNR really never seems to address this. Have called them before, to no avail. Sorry you lost the gear. It’s expensive and then , ofcourse, it can end your whole day when you do what we do and only have a small amount of bait and a short window of fishing time.
