Top2Bottom

Russ is in the hospital in his home town. It is not good. His sister “becca” knows how much all of you mean to him…and him to us…and wrote to me and asking that I ask all of you…his friends and family here…to lift him up in your prayers . I will let you know more when I hear from her today. My heart is sad.

Oh Heavenly Father…Please lift Russ in your arms, ease his pain and that of his family. Flood him with thoughts and dreams of his friends and family…times shared…and of the ocean that he so loves. May these memories wash over him like the waves of the Sea he has fished and sailed upon, and give him comfort. Brush his brow with your hand like a gentle ocean breeze.Fill his nose with the smells of the ocean and marsh, and let his eyes see its splendor, even if only in his sleep . May he know that all of us are praying for him and that our thoughts and love are with him, and let him feel our presence with him as he does yours too. Heal his body. comfort his family and give them strength. They have been through so much. In your name I pray and ask this. Amen

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Prayers from here as well! What a beautiful prayer penfishin, and Amen. Does anyone know what happened, an accident, or health issues?

I always enjoyed Russ’s company. He will truly be missed. I think he knew and didn’t want to worry his friends. He went home to be with family.

Prayers sent and will continue.

Penny, where’s his hometown? Could those of us who’d like to collectively send him something? If so, let me know and I’ll mail a check immediately to whomever can coordinate.

In YOUR name, Heavenly Father, I pray for Russ and his family. Give them the strength to deal with this. For it is in YOUR name that I pray. Amen…

This brings me great sadness. He seems too young to be taken. Though I didnt know him that well I knew him well enough to personally share fishing info on the sole fact that I knew he was someone who enjoyed the outdoors deeply as I do myself. I tried to help Russ learn how to catch shad through messaging on this website and I think he was able to enjoy this great fishery that he never had the chance to experience out west. I never had the privilege to meet Russ in person but I honestly felt like I knew him well. Tight lines and fair seas my friend, may we meet sometime on a greater sea.

Very sad,i have seen all i want of cancer, unfortunately i am sure i will see more…

Thoughts and prayers with Russ and his family.

Our dear friend Russ passed this afternoon. His sister said it was a very spiritual, quiet and peaceful journey. We are all deeply saddened by their loss as well as our own. Hold fast to memories shared with and of him…good laughs…good friends, good times. Russ loved Charleston and all of you and considered this as his home away from home. We will never forget him.

Russ’ big heart and desire to help others will be missed and never forgotten. I cannot think of a single person that would jump quicker to lend a hand or a bit of his deep knowledge. Prayers for his family and all of his friends as we mourn his departure from our lives here.

I never heard Russ say “I need” something…it was always, “what do YOU need?”…one of the most selfless people I’ve ever known…and he was humbled when you tried to compensate him for helping you…truly one of a kind! and I’m proud to have known him…

Didn’t know Russ, but ditto to everything said here… RIP

" It is what it is".

I have just gone through hundreds of pics…pics of Russ laughing, Russ serious, Russ sad, Russ telling us of his adventures at sea…and on land… Russ telling jokes and giving me heck about pranking him and all of you , and dressing up “poor Roo”. :). I have laughed, cried…and realized over and over that Russ will always be with us. How could he not be? We were blessed to share a part of his life and to have him in ours. Russ would not want us to be sad…but we can’t help it. That’s what happens when you realize that someone will no longer be here to call…or to give a hug. But we can look up to heaven and talk to him there…see a sunrise or sunset and know that he does too…and feel and taste the salt spray and be reminded of how much he loved all of us and the ocean with its many treasures. Russ will always be here with us…and with you too.

I will be talking to his sister again tomorow and will let you know of their plans , and also check with her about posting her/their address here for any of you who might want to send a card or note . I’m sure it will be ok…they know how much Russ meant to all of us.

I am sorry to hear about this, I knew his sister had been sick, but was not even aware that he had cancer. My prayers are with his family.

The man constantly encouraged me to keep up the good fight and to keep life in perspective. Now he is doing it still.
Thank you Russ. Wish I had spent more time with you, but I can’t complain about what I got. Big heart and everyone’s friend.
