The water on the south side of Edisto has been dingy to muddy practically all year and this really affects the trout bite (at least for me). When I can find marginal water (9 inch visibility) my clients have been catching trout on topwater (popping plugs like Rebel PopR’s cause even the young kids can work these) and Trout Tricks on 1/8th ounce jigheads. But mostly it’s been fishing drops with structure for reds with Berkeley Gulps on 1/8th ounce jigheads. The reds have been the mainstay of my charters.
On another note, I’m headed to Barnwell to show the below property (taking off the guide cap for the real estate broker cap). This six acre pond (12 feet deep) on 21 acres with cabin and shop is listed for $138,000. Loaded with bass, bream, crappie, and channel catfish, this is a great deal for a getaway, deer camp, (for the first time there are a number of hunting properties for lease in and around Barnwell county), or retirement.
