I have been struggling to catch my target species lately and it had me thinking. What is the toughest fish to catch in s.c…
Inshore or offshore, that is a different beast entirely!
I would have to say walleye…
Evidently we have some somewhere in the state, I just have never seen one.

Walleye have been stocked in hartwell. My vote would be sturgeon. Heard of people seeing them but never heard of anyone catching one. Usually the hardest species for me to catch is the one I’m fishing for. #128540;
Its tough for me to catch anything on white braid…

If your not skilled sheephead are probably the most difficult
If you were to set a goal to catch something that is there but super hard or rare to catch. It could even be a trophy size fish of a easy to catch fish, like a 50 inch plus red or 12lb sheep or something.

This. Though I have only tried a few times but, never have caught one. I only catch flounder by accident.

well apparently mahi mahi for me this season!
“mr keys”
I’m going to say tarpon…they’re not easy to hook, fight, or land.
One thing to consider when answering this question is how many of a particular species there are in the state. Don’t confuse “rarest fish in SC” with “hardest fish to catch in SC.” A great white is going to be harder to catch than a sheepshead, but it’s probably only because there are fewer great whites in SC than sheepshead. Having said that, I’d say the most difficult, with consideration for how many there are: my vote is Tarpon.
Barramundi. What do I win?
In the last 3 years i have caught more Tarpon on rod and reel than flounder… either tarpon arent hard to catch, or Im no flounder fisherman
Look at where Jesus went to pick people. He didn’t go to the colleges; he got guys off the fishing docks.

Have you been specifically targeting flounder and not catching them? To me, that’s wild to think that landing a tarpon is easier than landing a flounder. I catch flounder both when targeting them and on accident. In addition, once they’re hooked they’re always landed. Nothing left to do but drag them to the boat.

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

Yes sheepshead for me, I’ve never quite gotten the feel for them.

that hurts
I briefly considered pinging your location and suffocating you in your sleep.
I’m over it now.
I am a tarpon failure along with lots of other things, but not flounder.
I plan on pummeling Wiggs this season. he doesn’t even know it yet. so don’t tell him
Black marlin.
Hey Fishin Mission, I’ll trade you flounder spots for tarpon pointers
