I’m going to spend a lot of time on the boat in the Cape Romain area this fall. I thought I might subscribe to a towing service. Any recommendations?
Sea Tow of course! Give us a call and we’ll be happy to sign you up 881-8949

I have been a TowBoatUS member for about seven years and have used the service twice, once for a trailer problem and once for a soft grounding. Service was prompt and efficient.

Can’t go wrong with either of the towing services, Sea Tow or TowBoatUS. Both are run by extremely competent and great folks.

Would you rather be rescued by a red boat or a black/yellow boat. Otherwise, you can’t really go wrong with either.
tow boat keeps 6 boats in the water at 3 different location, and 1 on a trailer
I think seatow keeps 3 boats in the water at shem creek, and 1 on a trailer
wasnt there 2 incidents with towboat us running aground or a boat sinking a while back? Seatow is good people
strip…strip…FISH ON!
about 2-3 years ago towboat was ungrounding a boat in the ICW, and while under load, a much larger boat waked the towboat, swamping the towboat, causing it to roll over.
One of seatows boats crashed into a dock in the ICW not long ago, and someone posted pics of it on here.
what do either of those things have to do with being “good people”
when you spend as many hours on the water as these guys do, at some point, something bad is gonna happen. I work on a lot of commercial boats, and when you are racking up over 1000 hours a year per boat, its bound to happen.
I am sure if you ask around there will be rave reviews of both companies, as well as “horor” stories.
my guess will be most of the “horor” stories will be from non memebers, complaining of the “outrageous” amount they charged for…
to avoid any of those issues, buy the $150 policy.
back to teh original question
towboat keeps a boat in the ICW right by Tolers cove
seatow bases in shem creek
response time to cape romain is shorter for towboat.
towboat also keeps aboat at bristol, and in the cooper at the old navy base
call the owner of both companies on and see which one you feel will provide you with the best service
Steve, the owner of TowBoat regularly posts his cell number here.
headdigger, I would love the opportunity to discuss with you why we feel we offer the best service bar none. More benefits, more locations, more boats, more members, more service…more is better and there’s a reason (Actually more than one reason). Feel free to call me on my cell or visit our website which will also link you to the national Boat US site. I look forward to talking with you. cell 843-345-3355

I’m a TowBoat fan. I’ve used their service once so far and they were very prompt and VERY professional. Super guys!
Being superstitious is bad luck.
CPT STEVE. I’d like to put your cell number in my SPOT for help situations. Can you please tell me what provider you use? It’s required for adding it to the contacts list.
Thanks
I am a tow boat member and am sure glad I haven’t had to use it. shoot, where is some wood to knock on…

Sea Tow for ten years now. Had to request service three times - once at the Charleston 60, once right off the Battery, and the last time was up the Cooper in the security zone. I received good service all three times.

SeaTow and BUS chime in here…BUS used to have a coverage map in their store that limited them to 25 miles from their dockage (Cooper River). ST is up to 75 miles offshore.</font id=“blue”>
I am a sea tow member for the first time. Needed them friday night on a friends boat but was informed that i was not covered unless i borrowed the boat. Since I was with him I was not covered. I was under the impression that I was covered as a member in any circumstance. I’m not saying I was mislead, I just mis-understood. members are covered on there boat or a leased, chartered or borrowed vessel. Are both companies policies the same?
Have been towed by Seatow twice, once recently. Both times I had a short wait and very professional and friendly tow
who has more “ready to go” boats? either on trailer or in water?
slack line
towboat.
I work on their boats, so I know when 1 is out of service.
he has
22 twin vee navigator docked at the navy base
22 whaler outrage docked at navy base
45’ twin diesel crew boat docked at navy base
28’ sea ark commercial catamaran docked the base
24-25’ C-hawk docked at sullivans island
28-30’ safe boat (coast guard small boat) docked at city marina
and a 15’ boston whaler on a trialer, that is currently at my shop getting some work done.
the other 6 boats are in the water fueled and ready to respond.
pretty sure seatow has a 26 twinvee in the water at shem creek
their 26-30’ rib in the water at shemcreek
and a 18 whaler on a trailer.
he has another 26 twinvee, but I havent seen it in a while
reelescape
TowBoat coverage is minimum 25miles with most providers offering extended(75+)miles
I know steve has been as far as 80 miles from the jetties to get a boat, in 6-8’ seas. I am pretty sure seatow doesnt go out in rough seas
TowBoat US has the LARGEST FLEET IN CHARLESTON AND NATIONWIDE!! Reelescape, the brochure says 25 miles in any direction but many have “Extended Service Areas”. TowBoat US Charleston will go to 100 miles. We HAVE towed from 84. This is one of the reasons TowBoat US was the FIRST to invest in a commercially built offshore response vessel. Towboat US was the FIRST to invest in a High Site Radio for offshore communications (still the farthest reaching radio). TowBoat US also the FIRST to dispatch from multiple locations (currently 3) to provide better service.TowBoat US was the FIRST AND ONLY to have the Owner post his personal cell # for 24/7/365 use. TowBoat US is also the SERVICE PROVIDER OF CHOICE for SPOT and the nations largest marine retailer WEST MARINE. Some companies STRIVE to provide service, some only do what they have to. Visit www.towboatcharleston.com and experience ALL the RED boats can do for you.
