I got mine stolen back in 08’. The law enforcement around here seems to have more priorities I found out. Turns out it was not even entered into NCIC even though a report was filed. Got mine back a year later when the thief slipped and a concerned business man reported what he thought was suspicious. Had to end up setting the guy up myself. Really sad if you ask me. He went to jail and I pulled mine home only to have the insurance company want full price for me to keep it. Lol. Needless to say they came and got it. Good luck with your recovery and we’ll keep an ear to the ground. Pics would be nice if you got some.
bad news. i’ll keep a look out.

where was it stolen from? I had mine taken from Duncan’s boat landing about two years ago. Nothing sucks more then that. Now I back mine in up to the concrete bumpers. Try to make it as hard as possible for them.
When will SC learn that requiring trailers to be titled and registered will help prevent trailer theft?

And that will make just one more thing we will have to pay taxes on. No thank you.
I’d rather pay taxes than have a $3K-$6K trailer stolen…$25-$50/year is cheaper than your insurance deductible and increased insurance rates due to a stolen trailer. But, to each his own…
Sorry to hear that Marsha.
Good luck getting it back.

i’d bet there are more cars stolen every year than trailers.
keep the government out of my pocket and business.
too much government is what’s wrong with this country today.

Yeah right. About as much as tags on cars keep them from being stolen.

Mine was stolen several years ago… never heard a word about it afterwards. I got the impression that the cops had better things to do than go to landings and look for serial numbers
Cops don’t care about recovering stolen property. The case is closed when they leave the scene.
I think some of you are missing the point…
When a trailer is titled and registered, like your car, truck, boat, motorcycle, outboard…whatever; you have to renew your registration at some point…Right? Also, in order to sell it, you need to transfer the title of ownership so that the new owner can register it and put tags on it. Without a title you will have a hard time selling a trailer.
Here, since we aren’t required to title or register trailers, anybody can swipe your trailer and put it under their boat or sell it to someone else in this state without any paperwork changing hands. For all you know the “like new” $2,000 trailer you just bought could be stolen property and you are now in possession of stolen goods. If found the authorities COULD charge you for the theft since there was no paper trail proving from whom you bought the trailer.
I can recall at least a dozen trailer thefts reported on this site alone in the past two years, but how many folks who post here have had cars stolen? And there are more automobiles than trailers I’m sure.
Titling trailers would make it more difficult to sell them if they were stolen.
We all need to take a Dremel or side grinder and make distinctive markings on our trailers and take photos of the markings. One trailer looks like the other without some kind of marking.
Kinda like branding a cow or a horse in the old west.
