Trenchards Inlet?

if you put in at the broad river landing, is there anything to worry about as far as running over a sand bar/structure when heading south towards the sound? How is that boat ramp? I remember hearing bad things about that ramp area.

Once you go under the 170 bridge heading out, I know that there is a sandbar on the right side of the rive, i’m sure it depends on tide/size of boat as to whether or not you need to worry about it. I could tell it was there the other day, we were in a 25’ so we steered clear.

“Lock em’ down”

one of our family’s favorite spots to go and enjoy the day is on Bay Point. We also like to go for shark out in the sound. I’ve seen large boats come in and out from the mouth in front of bay point, but i have never tried it myself. judging from seeing waves breaking and what appears to be a lot of shallow area out there on google maps, i’ve been too chicken to try it myself since i do not know the area that well. (we only get down there a few times a year). how risky is it? also, has anybody tried to cut through that creek that goes from in front of ted turner’s place to the other side of that land, in front of the mouth of station creek?

When leaving out of trenchards take a left right past bay point and run parallel to the beach until you get pasted the breakers and its a straight shot out.

A Couple of years ago we tried to head out of Trentchards between bull point and the breakers but we kept hitting bottom so kept shifting and bottom again so we called it quits - can you navigate thru this channel at low tide at idle speed or do you have to be on plane? We may try again this weekend. I have also seen several large boats come in from the Ross or Fripp and stop at the point. Good steady fishing in this area on years past - hope still the case.

Robery82,
I have gone thru the creek you are talking about in a johnboat. It is a shortcut from Broad River to Trenchards. Wouldn’t try it in anything bigger though, except maybe at the highest of tides. Had some luck catching stone crabs in there one time.
