Hello there. I am in need of need of new trolling motor batteries to replace my optima deep cycle dual purpose batteries. That battery is $279 each and I wasn’t overly impressed with the charge length or the life. What are your recommendations for batteries to rig into 24 volts?
Thanks
I honestly have had very good service out Walmart batteries I believe Exide or Johnson Control makes them which makes most of the batteries sold here anyway.

Deal, Trojan, or of odessey. They are in the higher price range but WAY better than optima.
i have had good luck with the deep cycle batteries from walmart. i have three on my 112#ipilot and two cranking batteries.there are only a few lead companies that make batteries in the u.s. anyway and they make many different brand name in the same building. another thing is that you can find a walmart just about anywhere if you need to replace/warranty your batteres.

Walmart does stand behind there batteries, took one back a few weeks ago, no questions asked and gave me a new on with new warranty!
I got a Duracell deep cycle at Sam’s Club to replace my failed trolling motor battery about a year ago. It’s been great. zero problems.
I am pretty sure that they’re made by Deka for Duracell. The address/info on the battery is the same that is found for Deka online.

Johnson controls also make optima. Optima is not that great of a battery. There not even worth crushing for the lack of lead inside. Interstate Marine deep cycle are the best bang for your buck.

This! Also, if you get them from northern tool on rivers, they have a better (longer) warrantee than from the actual interstate battery store on rivers…around 100 each for group 24 size

Walmart batteries have been good to me,3 years going and I use my trolling motor a lot.
I buy the Duracell AGM Batteries from Sam’s Club. They have a 18 month replacement warranty. Sam’s carries 2 sizes. A big group 31 and a smaller group 24. I think they are $190 and $130 respectively.
Man, $ 190.00 is a deal on a group 31 AGM!
any one using lithium batteries. i know they are high $ but supposed to big weight savers
Thread resurrection.
Has anyone noticed a real difference between series 24 vs 27 vs 31 vs 34 AGM. I am getting ready to purchase 3 deep cycle batteries for my trolling motor and would prefer not to make a mistake.
I don’t know that there is a big difference. I have 3 North Star 2x extreme batteries for my trolling motor. (From batteries plus) They are 27. I think it is more important to buy a good quality battery. I had blue tops prior to purchasing the North Star. Got 2 years out of them. I can get a solid 2 days of running on the North Stars without charge. Next month they will be 3 years old. Still running strong. Kind of pricey 300 bucks a piece. But no regrets. I googled AGM before I purchase them batteries. It did not really explain a lot to me. As far as long jevity of the battery. I don’t think it makes a lot of difference. For what it’s worth my nickels worth.
I am fragile. Not like a flower. But like a bomb.
Had great luck with bass pro batteries. I buy during the fishing classic sale… next week I think… plus no core charge
Spoke to soon. Just released their sale paper… no batteries this year.id go to Walmart then
Butter, what store is that from!
That’s from Sam’s Club
