Trolling Motor Bracket

Anyone know where I can find a used Minn Kota Riptide bow mounting bracket? I have a transom mount riptide 80 that I’d like to convert. I can only find motorguide gator brackets on eBay. Does anyone know if a minn kota will fit a motorguide mount if u put the motorguide sleeve on the minn kota shaft?

Can you hear the crickets? lol. Honestly man, it’s kinda hard to get a response from people on here when you’re new and when all you ask for is advice… Know what I mean? Not trying to be an ass, just telling you the truth. I speak from experience

You might have better luck with this kind of question on TheHullTruth.Com or on the general fishing forum on this site. That being said, I know what you’re asking and I did something similar a while back on a 23’ Stratus bass fishing boat. West Marine or Bass Pro can special order you something, no doubt, because they both are Minn Kota dealers. I would start there. I don’t think you’re gonna find that sitting on the shelf anywhere. Regarding the retrofit, I’m not sure but I kind of doubt it considering they are competing companies. It’s kinda like lug patterns. Sure… it would be nice if Chevy wheels fit Ford trucks and vice versa… but they don’t and it’s for a reason. Good luck man!

ASW - you are too far off base with your comments about the responses available on this board. Not everybody can spend every waking hour reading and responding to posts. Perhaps you need to follow your own recommendation and stick to THT.

Dido what G8r said. Some of us still work for a living and find time to help out the new comers when we can. Tight lines BTW I don’ t have a spare RT bracket and I have no idea if a motor guide will work.

I may have one, I have a double shift today but will check for you this evening. It is from a Riptide 101 bow mount.

Thanks for the responses. I’m fishing on a budget, so every bit of advice on helping save a few bucks helps. Don’t get to fish much with work and everything else going on in my life so I like to get the most out of my days fishing. I really enjoy reading the posts on this board when I get a chance…I get to live vicariously through your reports and pics. Just b/c I don’t post often doesn’t mean I don’t check in from time to time. Don’t think these salty guys would have much to learn from a newcomer.

Wow, well… that is the direct opposite of what I intended to portray.

I was under the impression I was relaying the truth. There was no spite or ill will in any of my comments. I’m sorry if that is the message I presented. I was simply trying to let Chris know that posts like this typically go unnoticed. Am I wrong? There are many posts on this particular website that hit 100 views, crickets. 200. 400. 600… Crickets. In no way was I poking any sort of fun at that truth. What better way to help someone than to casually direct them elsewhere where that sort of information has a higher percentage of being answered? We’ve snipped at each other… But nobody has been able to answer his very specific question. That’s my point.

That being said… There is a RIDICULOUS amount of awesome information available on this forum as it relates to the area and to, specifically, fishing. I have gathered a great deal of fantastic advice and met several very nice and helpful people. I am far from a rookie fishermen, but I myself am new to the area. I can’t tell you how beneficial and how rewarding of an experience it has been engaging you guys and learning, meeting, and reading from your earned knowledge.

In regards to “still working”… I have a full time job myself and when I’m not at work I’m studying for my 2nd degree and remodeling a 75 year old house. Its not exactly a cake walk for myself either, so let that be.

I understand the hierarchies that develop on forum sites such as this one. My 20 some odd posts mean little in an arena such as this, and I respect that. I’m not sitting around waiting on a response either, I’m just a very connected, gadget using, enthusiastic person. I’m sorry if at times that comes off as snarky. I assure you that was not my intention.
To tell me to go elsewhere is a little over the top I would say… But to each his own I suppose.

I greatly appreciate this site, the members on it, and the valuable information that it holds. I am very sorry if that offended anyone. It was c

It’s all good. The main point of the post was to see if anyone local had a bow mount collecting dust they wanted to make a few bucks on. Usually when a trolling motor craps you have to buy a new one but the old mount is still good.

I hear ya dude. I’ve rebuilt them before. You’d be surprised how cheaply you can find entire rebuild kits, mother board and all, for. Online is still probably your best bet. Hope it works out for ya man. Trolling motors catch the fish, I’d be lost without one doing that type of fishing. Almost as important to me as a bait well! Good luck.

Chris… I would suggest giving these guys a call: http://www.northlandmarine.com/

I recently had to rebuild my riptide, and the guys at Northland were extremely helpful and by far had the best prices I could find.

Thanks for the link BT. Any word on that 101 lb coach?

USCCHRIS,
Are you looking for the mount that is permanent on the bow or the bracket that is attached to the trolling motor? If you’re just looking for the mount, you can make it, with a thick piece of starboard, a saw and a drill. Can’t help you if you’re looking for the bracket that is on the motor, but I’ll keep an eye out.

i made this up but i think it’s true

Sorry Chris, I have been out of town this weekend for a wedding, went to the high country. I know I have the bracket but not sure on the head part to hold your motor. I will look tomorrow and let you know. I will get the mount to you cheap if you think you can make it work.

Chris I have a front mounting bracket. The head part that holds the trolling motor shaft fits the triple steer type of motor. Let me know if you are interested, cheap to folks who post here, might be an extra charge for a USC fan. I will look around for the head that fits the normal shaft motor.
