Trophy Wifes Maiden Voyage 6/15/13

New to posting fellas so bear with me. Left folly landing around 5:30am to met a angry stono inlet. Seen a couple boats turning around not us. It was a bumpy ride out doing 18-20knts. Finally hit 120’ and put some lines out. 5 mins later fish on turns out to be a cuda. 20 mins later starboard longrigger goes off fish on my buddy grabs the rod and then the shotgun goes off double hook-up. Yea buddy 25lb mahi and 10lb wahoo on shotgun. So the day goes on and we get a couple knock downs and short strikes but nothing solid. Had some rookie mistakes and some tangles to deal with, but got lines back out and started trolling again. About noon time the port side longrigger goes off and my buddy grabs the rod and starts fighting the fish when the shotgun goes off again. Fish on I yell and my little brother grabs the rod. “Its a Bill” he yells as he sees the fish jump out of the water and shake his head I grabed the camera to get some photos needless to say that tld 25 got spooled real quick being someone on the boat decided to use that rod as the shotgun when it was 3/4-1/2 spooled because of the tangles a hour before. The other fish on was a little tunny. With all that excitement we stick around and try to hook up again but no luck so we decide to hit up some bottom numbers and bam we caught some of the biggest black sea bass ive ever seen. Had to head home early to get one of the guys in to work. Had a great adventure with the boys and cant wait to get up to the cape to tuna fish the rest of the summer.

That “wahoo” might be better in a smoked fish dip… For I believe what you managed to capture was not a common wahoo. No siree! It looks like you managed to find the elusive “king macke-rahoo” (scomberomorous solandri). Also known by some south american tribes as the chupacabra fish. It’s quite the delicacy for 65 year old men, felines, and short order cooks all over the world!

Yep that’s a slimer for sure the are a great contraceptive

yep looks like a king to me as well… and skineej just wanted to give you a heads up that kings are actualyy “S.cavalla” and not “S.solandri”

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

S. Cavalla is a king mackerel. This one is the elusive king macke-rahoo. Look it up!

Thank you for the correction. I figured it was a little small for a wahoo. Being such a young angler i’m gonna make some mistake. Now with the whole king mackerel/ king macke-rahoo are yall just messing with me or is there actually a species called the king macke-rahoo and why is it so elusive also last year i caught two of these fish and thought they were hoo’s too. Like I said this is my 3 time out in my own boat, just looking to make a adventure out there and have fun thats all if I come home with enough fish for the crew and everyone had fun thats a Great Adventure to me. Actually just found out Im expecting another baby what a great fathers day gift to hear. Hopefully the Real trophy wife doesn’t make me sell my boat lol. Time to go pack my bags heading to Cape Cod Massachusetts for bluefin tuna season. If anyone wants to make a trip up I will be mating on a 32’ blackin sporty and could hook you up with a good time. I will be sending updates of my trip. Thanks again for all the help on this site. Some can be butts but most are well knowledgeable anglers that care. Maybe I could get an Invite on one of yalls boats and see how the pros troll. Most summers I have off and I have my own gear, can rig baits, teasers, dredges, just good overall angler just need that extra knowledge.

Bass were average, try jigs for the bigger ones. Little “Sea Bream” are ringtails, cut them up to tip your jigs with.

Skinneej I have to say I looked it up and It looks to me like a S.cavalla (king mackeral) just looking at the lines and dorsal fins on the kingmache-rahoo this fish didnt have the strips like a hoo. I may be wrong again but I’ll leave that up to the experts cooked some up last night and whateva it was good on the grill skin side down marinated in italian dressing with peppers n onions. I’ll have to see how to make some of that mackeral smoke dip everyone talks about never had it.

Why does everyone doubt my abilitys Yes I am a young angler compared to most only being 28yrs old I have alot to learn and have the ambition to learn from the pros. (so yall call yourselfs) waiting to see some reports from the haters on this site. Everything I own or have Ive done for myself earned myself and taught myself(even how to rebuild my own outboards and save myself thousands of $$$$. So with that said heres a pic of the boat I will be mating on come 6/20/13 for the rest of the summer. The boat is already there just needs my electrical and mechanical help to get it back in the water. This is a great friend of mine that moved down to charleston a couple years ago and has recently moved back to his origin and hook me up with a great job to learn and gain the knowledge of the tuna. Get a life people Oh yea here’s just a snap shot of his brothers 345lb cored tuna caught on spinning tackle so STFU HATERS!!!

Did you use the Italian dressing with the big red flakes?

One unsmart friend lol didnt relize they were in the boat till we were heading out to inlet loading cooler up. We ended up putting them in the livewell and forgetting about them none broke atleast. Bluewater it was kraft zesty italian. It was pretty good to my taste others could disagree. Planning on making some dolphin burgers maybe tonight any ideas or recipes thats good.

just my opinion but fresh dolphin does not need a recipe. Salt, pepper and lemon is all you need.

Try Dales and Liquid Smoke on them too, coat liberally.

Glass on a boat is a no no.

Catch em up, everyone started somewhere. Most of these guys are full of &@&$t and don’t know anything at all anyway. It’s not like you’re Floridaboy.
