Trout or Reds in the surf

Just curious has anyone started catching trout or reds in the surf yet on live bait?

I don’t think they start catching those in the surf until the fall of the year. I may be wrong however.

We wore the trout out last 4th july on the 1200 block last year. Live bait was key and enough lead to hold in place. I think we caught like 25-30 in 2 days with a easy dozen keepers. Actually only kept 3 to cook.
