Trying a new terminal setup

I’m trying out a new to me quick-connect terminal setup for a couple surf rods. hopefully it’ll be helpful when I want to change things up and add a different rig on the end.

What do you guys think!?

I like it. I switched to the same set up this year. I make up rigs before I go out and quickly and easily can change rigs in an instant. No fumbling around and loosing precious time. Sometimes the bite turns on and shuts down before you know it and it’s nice to be able to just snap a new one on and get back to fishing. I bought one of the liter cases that have the different zip lock bags in it and pre-do different rigs for sharks, reds and bait rigs. If sharks biting slap on a steel liter, If reds biting put on the mono one. It’s simple, efficient and works great. Nice in the dark as well after shree or four beers:smiley: The only difference in mine is I put a sinker slide on the main line before the swivel that I can snap different pyramid sinkers on depending on the current, but plenty of folks use your set up as well and like it better.

Been doing that for many years. If I may, I’d recommend coastlock snaps though. They tend to be much stronger in a much smaller size. I keep 2/0 coastlock snap swivels on my broomstick, #1’s on my 12’ surf spinner, #3’s or #4’s on my medium surf rod, and little ones on my bait/grocery rods. The coastlock snap swivels don’t bend and weaken as easily as those interlock snaps do. And yes, they are super convenient.

Better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I Love it , I’m going to steal that set up.

Anyone can do nothing, be someone and do something

Pegged weight, heading in the right direction.

I do the same, except I add a plastic bead. The bead let’s me reel it up to the tip eye, so I don’t have to secure the snap swivel to any where else on the rod when I’m done fishing, and it protects the tip eye from being damaged by overly excitable fishermen ( my wife )who try to reel the terminal rig THROUGH the tip eye, when bringing in a fish…

Oooh that bead trick is a great idea!!! I’m gonna steal that idea!

Thanks guys! Im going to give them a try this weekend and see how I like them. I use 2/0 circle hooks which are fixed to a 12" mono leader so im gonna figure out a way to make the hooks quick connectable so I can swp hook sizes as well if I need to adjust. Those coast lock snaps do look a bit heavier duty, I might give those a shot!

Stlhunr - That bead at the top is a great way to protect that top eye! Nice!

Parker - Same location on the line, just pegged? (About 8" up on the 12" leader)

What is the liter cases that has different zip lock bags in it ?

Kingpin, I also use the coast lock snaps as well. I like big ones, just easier to work with. I also use the beads. APOB the liter case can be found at most any fishing store, around 20 bucks.I think I got mine at Haddrels. I also put my fishing license in one of the baggies. That way I have it at all times. If Yall are heading out this weekend good luck-and catch um up,send us some pics:smiley:

Only draw back is when you have weeds in the water that snap swivel will grab them. Fortunately we do not often have much sea weed/vegetation in the surf zone on our beaches here in the low country, so you should be fine with this rig most of the time.

No salt, no fun.

Similar setup was very popular for surf fishing in SE Fla many years ago.

Not trying to sound like a school teacher, but I think it’s called a " leader" case?
