Two Years and Still Growing

It is hard to believe that CharlestonFishing.com has been a part of the local fishing scene in the Charleston area for two years. March 31st marks our 2nd birthday and to look back and see how much the site has evolved is amazing and humorous. As many of you know, my brother Vasco is a computer guy, not a fisherman. When we launched the site we were not sure what our logo was going to look like. While we were designing our logo I asked Vasco to put a picture of a fish on the home page. I was very surprised to find a nice big Carp on the home page the next morning. I laughed so hard I cried and then I called him and told him to remove it as quickly as he could.

 The growth of the site from a content standpoint has been phenomenal. As the readership increased so did the number of suggestions and ■■■■■■■■ on how to improve the site. We added many new categories of information and discussion areas where anglers could ask questions and exchange thoughts and ideas with other anglers. Most recently we have added sections for Lady Anglers, Fly fisherman, and spearfishings section. All of the areas we added were suggestions from people that visited the site and were kind enough to give us their opinions and suggestions.

 The site has also experienced a tremendous amount of growth in the number of people visiting and participating on a daily basis.  In our first year our site was visited about 50,000 times. In our second year we've had over 275,000 hits! We have always believed that as the number of people participating in the site increased the site would get better and better. With more people there is more information shared and the more we all learn. We have been very impressed with the number of people that have volunteered their time and knowledge to help out fellow fishermen on the site. Without this type of participation the site would not have continued to grow. There have also been many changes behind the scenes to accommodate the greater number of people visiting the site.
