Ugly Ducklin' Charters - 08/29/09

This morning we took Bonnie, Barb, Dick, and Fred fishing again. My friends from Charlotte that just couldn’t get enough. Hey, when you get a taste of this kind of local fishing, you can’t blame them. So we headed in and had nothing less than another great day of busting the reds. Bonnie led out by releasing a 23.5" red and we kept on from there. Almost immediately after that, we brought in this dang pretty keeper with what we counted was 61 spots. You gotta love the ones like that. Caught within 100’ of where we caught one with 44 spots.*

*That one was recorded with SCDNR and was actually re-caught again in Georgetown 108 miles away 109 days later. I got a call from the office on that one. The guy that re-caught it said it was so pretty he had to release it even though it was a keeper.

So, moving on. We spent the rest of the day with just catching 'em up and having a great time. Everything caught on live shrimp and mullet. See pictures below.

Redfish Hunter still evades me… …Redfish Hunter 7 - Capt. Steve 0… …still will stick a tag in Him!

Water temp was - about 82 degrees
Clarity - A little murky
Tide slack on the outgoing a little better on the incoming

Give us a call if you’re going to be down on the Island. We’d love take you fishing.

Menhaden are gone? I couldn’t find any Saturday morning…came down for the weekend.

Just trying to learn every bit I can about saltwater fishing…

Posting on a message board all the time doesn’t make you smart. Frankly, it just means you probably need to get a life.

Menhaden were everywhere/all day in Savannah this weekend, not sure about the Edisto area.

There are a few left around, but they are getting harder to find.

That’s amazing. Three weeks ago you couldn’t jump out of the boat without landing in a school. And…poof…they are just gone.
