Took out Doug and Kathy from Virginia. Kathy didn’t want to fish, but she caught her first Reds, then she was hooked. Doug was determined to catch a Bonnethead, so we chased them down the river.
Caught several small Spottails and Trout. Hooked Redfish Hunter for the fourth time in a row, and as usual he pulled the hook short of the net. Gotta catch that fish! It’s a vendetta now.

Kathy’s 20 inch Spottail

Doug’s 18 inch Trout. Nice Trout!

Doug was determined to catch a Bonnethead.

That’s a nice bonnethead! I wish I couldn’t catch them but for some reason they like biting my lines. I have to admit they are fun as heck to catch on light tackle. I had one just about pull my 8 year old daughter out the boat last week. It was a good thing I was standing by her because she didn’t want to let go and I was about to lose her and the rod.

Cheers

Do you remember on Grumpy Old Men that they had this catfish they couldn’t catch. They called him Catfish Hunter. This Redfish has escaped me 4 times in a row. Same spot, same tide. He’s pushing 30 pounds, and I really want to have a Kodak moment with him. So we call him Redfish Hunter.

Did you lose a white or lite green float? I saw two 3’ to 4’ers crashing the beach on Otter yesterday and one was trailing a leader with a float. Thought it was some type of tracking device at first. I threw a gulp on a popping cork at one of them and he didn’t want anything to do with it. My dog was bit out there a few weeks ago but he healed up pretty quick.

If you ain’t hooked, you ain’t doing it right.

No, I didn’t lose a float. I’m not sure if you’re talking about a Bonnethead, but Doug pitched a live shrimp on a Carolina rig in front of it. Sorry about your dog.
