Folly pier update?
They closed it for the summer? Blue tide poisoning.
I have been pulling in huge rad snapper off the pier but you have to do a 24 hour minamal soak to get the bait to water temp hopefully this helps
Enough already. Here’s a great idea… go to the pier and soak some bait and see if fish are there. I know, 'mind blown.
Wait… the folly pier is closed?
No been pulling cobia on walmart shrimp for 2 weeks now
Ok thanks. What other kind of fish have u caught there?

Caught this Goliath Grouper this morning!!!
And that’s a 200 lb. Super mono leader with an “Magic” orange crab pot float. Had to land it on the beach, could not hoist it up to the railing. Took two big dudes and one small child to drag it onto the sand. My fish ruler only goes up to 32", it was at least 3x that long! Could not get a weight 'cause my Boga Grip only goes to 100#! NOT my biggest though. I’ve told…caught way bigger at Demetre Park on James Island with my buddy Kebda.
OMG LOL! Yall quit messing with this dude! Toadfish Grouper LOL!
Thats a nice one Mr. Parker. Be careful and don’t let it bite you. I have heard pound for pound their bite is worse than a Nile Croc! One dude reportedly was careless last year and had his wille bitten off!!! Nothing to joke about.
Ok thx…
Heard those orange crab pot floats would attract big grouper but WOW
that is a big-un!!! Yea; they’re some even bigger than that over by the Poo plant
Mr. Sam Tar, where are you? Just curious.
Fishing in the surf will only get better as the water warms. Those of us that live down here will fish ALL year, every month…well some of us…okay MAYBE just me. Anyway, if just coming down for vacation, with minimal surf/pier/saltwater fishing experience my suggestion would be to get some fresh shrimp (the ones YOU would eat) not the frozen crap “BAIT” shrimp:dizzy_face:you can get at the pier or Wally World. Not that you can’t catch fish with it, but it is horrible. The currents here can run pretty hard most days. 3-5oz Pyramid sinkers will work well, small hooks, #2-1/0. If you must fish off the pier, big rigs and bait might get you into trouble. NO Shark fishing from the pier. Best bet, hope you catch a mess of nice Whiting to fry up for dinner, maybe a few Black Drum, watch the slot size 14"-27" 5per. Red Drum? Maybe, again watch the slot 15"-23" 3per. of course many other species are possible.
For me though, seems ONLY fishing from the pier limits your options. Maybe walk the beach some, there’s about six miles of great fishing available.
Good Luck!
Thank you so much. Btw, I live in Atl.

Okay I need details here what was this guy doing to get his “wille” bitten off? You know what never mind. This sounds like it’s heading an off-topic direction if you get what I mean…
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Don’t teach a man to fish… and feed yourself. He’s a grown man. And fishing’s not that hard.

Reportedly the man was “noodling” for grouper:smiley: In all sincereness I wish Sam Tar the best of luck, and hope he catches um up! It’s been warm around here Sam, that will help. Friday is looking like rain. Saturday is looking sunny and 80. Enjoy your time here Sam and enjoy the outdoors. Catching fish is just a small part of it. It’s a beautiful world out there, smell the clean air, enjoy the blue sky, let the salt lick your face and feel the sand beneath your toes. If a fish happens to come along all the better. Good luck Sam Tar, we are all pulling for you:smiley:
Thank you so much for all the pointers and everything guys. #128515;
Snapper, cobia, grouper have been commonplace the past few weeks…kings will be here in a day or so if not already…good luck bud, let us know how you do.
