Wammie ain’t goin’ nowhere. He has not been fired and probably won’t be. The old ball sack is only staying for a few years at best. Who’s going to take that job knowing they might not be around but for a year or two?The best bet is that Johnson comes back as co-defensive coordinator or something like that. Otherwise, they are stuck with what they have until the OBS finally decides to retire.

The person that doesn’t have a job

If you want to be a HC, then knowing that position will be available soon, it might be a good move for you.

This is what I was thinking.

The person that doesn’t have a job / person being offered 500K-750K will not care about the school’s history very much, especially when they think they can take a job at $3+ M in a short time if they prove themselves…

Thanks for adding the useless “school history” comment.

I did hear a very interesting scenario the other day on the radio. Say in 2-3 years Spurrier finally decides to hang it up, and by then Chad Morris has shown to get SMU going in the right direction. Would the chickens go after Morris? The timing would work out very well for SC.

Carolina should wait it out and do what Clemson did…
When the road gets too rocky there will be an asst coach w the nads to throw the coaching staff under the buss and get the AD to put his career on the line for him…

5 years later Tanner will be gone and the fan base will be ecstatic over the 1st win in six years because the world is back to normal…

It could happen. But my concern about Morris is that SMU has been so bad, so many violations, I think it will be hard for anyone to recruit and win there. I hope he does but that is a uphill battle.
On the other side, expectations are real low.

If Morris were all that he wouldn’t be at SMU…Head coach, great salary but the dream offer he’s been waiting on???
I really doubt it.

Morris is not all that unless he has the Jimmy’s and Joe’s to live out his X’s and O’s. It takes smart kids/kids that have been practicing and learning for several years to execute his schemes, so he’s got to get not only great athletes but also very coachable ones. Deshaun Watson earlier this year is a prime example of this. The guy has lots of raw talent and makes decisions beyond his years on the field, but Morris wasn’t “confident” in him running the offense early on. I cannot imagine that it was lack of effort on Watson’s part.

He left to be back in Texas. He’s indicated that’s where he was headed almost from his first year at Clemson. That’s where he can give it a run for the money recruiting, and if he can get the right kids in for his scheme then he will have some success. It will be tough against all the other good programs in Texas right now, but his dream really has been all along to be a Div. 1 coach in Texas. Him coming back to South Carolina doesn’t make a whole lot of sense because he’d be leaving behind a huge recruiting edge he has with the high schools in Texas. He’ll either go into a bigger Texas school HC job or be knocked back down into an OC somewhere- in Texas or Oklahoma.

What stars need to align for Dantonio to come to South Carolina?

I actually agree with the first part of this (I don’t have a clue about the 2nd part). Any up tempo offense needs more than just talent.

Simple, all he has to do is get on a losing streak at Mich St.

That ain’t happening. Dantonio is a heck of a coach, and Michigan St won’t go on a losing streak while he’s there. He may get lured back to his alma mater, but it won’t be because he gets ran off from Michigan St.

At this point is Whammy even getting fired?

Would assume it would have happened by now…no reason to wait until after the bowl and allow the good DC’s to get scooped up first.

I always hate to see a coach fired before the end of the season. In this case meaning bowl game

You tiger guys don’t need to concern yourselves with this situation. Salty said y’all are going on a 5-6 year run. Not sure if Ward is getting fired sounds more like he may stay in a different capacity if anything happens at all. Everything is pure speculation at this point.
Phin sounds more like you are throwing Spurrier under the bus. Losing after having 2 touchdown leads with less than 4:00 minutes left is the offenses fault. I agree some of the play calling was not great, but you need and expect your defense to be able to make stops.
I have nothing against Ward and hope he is able to stay in a different capacity, but I do not consider him a big time DC.

Agree with everything except that we will go on a 5-6yr run.

Sure they will…Heard in the upstate, things are back to normal now.

Latest scuttlebut in Cola this morning is the possibility of Muschamp to SC as DC and Ward stays on staff as a coach in some capacity. Remember, you heard it here first…

I really need you fellows to come get these. I didn’t expect to get so many in less than one week’s time.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.
