Hello all! I’m traveling down your way for the last full week in September and I’m looking for some information on where it’s best to fish from the shore. My fianc? and I will be staying in one of the Club Cottage Villas that is closer to the sound side. I’ve read a lot of the forums here and have gained a little knowledge but I don’t know what’s best for this time of year. My last vacation was spent with family and didn’t allow much time to fish while catering to everyone else’s plans, so I would like to make the most of this week.
We will also be kayaking and probably entering waters at Live Oak Landing. I’ll be bringing some lighter tackle to wet my lines while yaking and was looking for any direction that would make it worth my troubles.
I was pretty amazed at all the help and advice that people have offered here. You’re all a great group of people.
Fish on the curve - big sand bar .
Also trip to Botany Bay.

You gotta love the South Carolina Lowcountry.
Thanks EWC. I had planned a trip to Botany Bay. I seem to remember something about shark’s teeth. Now, by “the curve”, I take it you mean the point at the mouth of the South Edisto? and which side of the sandbar do I fish… river or ocean?
Curve is where 4 lane highway turns into 2 lane-
Good luck!

Put your Kayak in at the Botany Bay access point on Ocella Creek. Go left for upstream and right for downstream…lots of oyster banks at the mouths of smaller creeks that empty into Ocella on outgoing tides…I’ve found fish all along there pretty regularly. If no fish…it’s a beautiful kayak area!
I read that Botany Bay access was closed for deer archery season that week. Does that mean the entire wildlife preserve is closed?
I will be staying in Edisto the same week and was pretty bummed at the closing of Botany. Had a real nice time there for fathers day. I pretty much intend to fish every day that my wife will let me. If you need a fishing buddy hit me up and we’ll work it out.
FishFan - I thing Sunday is the only day that it’s open. Saturday ends the dove shoot and Monday begins archery. My honey and I will probably be putting in the kayaks on the outgoing tide. The rest of the week will probably be spent on the beach near The Curve and launching from Live Oak Landing. I’ll private message you with some more information once I know for sure what we’re doing. We don’t want to make too many concrete plans.
If you throw Yak in at Live Oak go left and at the curve go left again. Smaller waters and more protected - good fishing area. It takes you by the oyster mound down beside St Pk. Lots of trees on sides and deep outside bends and oyster banks to fish. Several good docks as well at low tide.
Another place would be at Steamboat. Go left toward Russell Cr and take first creek to left. Blue House - fish deep bends - trees - docks.

Thanks J Ford! I’ll post some pics here if I do well. And thanks to the rest of you as well.
