Venables was asked if he or his agent have received any calls about being a head coach.
“My focus is on us.”
When asked if his agent has been contacted, he said, “No comment.”
“I’m not interested in any other jobs. I’ve got a great job. I love what I’m doing. I love where we’re at. I love who I’m working for and like coach Swinney (has) said multiple times, we’re just getting started. That’s really, kind of, my thoughts and response to that.”
You wouldn’t be interested in a head coaching job?
“I’ve got a great job. Today, I’ve got a great job…”
If Southern Cal called?
“I don’t think like that. I deal with things as they come, as they’re put in front of you. I’m always a believer that you’re a week away from humility in this profession, and value what you have, take advantage of what opportunities you have now. There are thousands that are dying to be in this seat. I recognize that. I value the small part that I have in this program and I’m fighting for it.”
