Hey all, I got my orders and I’ll be transferring to the Charleston area in a few months for shore duty. I’m going to be coming up there to visit over the weekend for the solar eclipse and want to start learning about the area. I’ve been enjoying kayak and shore fishing near Amelia Island. Would anyone be willing to meet me and show me the ropes?
You might try the kayak section and, try contacting someone in the Lowcountry Kayak Anglers club. I am a yak fisherman but live in the midlands so… Hopefully someone will be along shortly to give you some guidance. I can give you some places to put in if no one chimes in.

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

If your on Facebook I would also check out the Lowcountry Kayak Anglers group. good luck and welcome.
Thanks for the responses. I have contacted the LKA and have recieved some responses there.
rock piles by fort moultrie could produce via casting lures or shrimp/mullet. ive also caught a hand full of sheephead with a cane pole standing on the rocks, but definitely not every time. keep an eye out for shipping barges in that area though they leave a bit of a wake as they pass through.
breach inlet at the isle of palms/sullivans island bridge has parking on both sides and can definitely produce, but if you choose to launch the yak there just be careful with the current. its nothing you cant handle, but you will work out if at mid tide! if you choose to pursue bait pods out there (launching from breach inlet), the ocean is normally pretty calm in that area.
folly this time of year (especially eclipse time) will be flooded with tourists. although there are some spots to be had there, i wouldnt worry about it this weekend.
ok not surf fishing but bushy park in goose creek you can cross the road and go either fresh or salt. salt you will find red, trout, and flounder with freshwater to include bass, catfish, crappie, and bluegill
just remember pics or it didnt happen!
