All I’ve heard was how Bentley had the game of his life along with Debo and Edwards and U5C still got their asses kicked. I’d worry about Akron this weekend, they beat Northwestern which would probably beat U5C.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

What's your take on your coaches and fanbase running onto the field before the game was over to prevent a 6th touchdown from Bentley?
After being released, a lot of fish die, but a lot of them live also.
My take is that time expired before they could get another snap off, thereby ending the game. Thats the way the refs called it.

To answer that, I would first have to ask myself, did it impact the outcome of the game? In this case, the only thing that MAY have been impacted was USC’s stat line. Given USC couldn’t punch it in from inside the 10, twice, you can’t just assume they would’ve scored at the end of the game. Either way, it had no bearing on who won or lost the game.

That the clock ran out and the SEC crew officiating the game did nothing to over-ride it. Quit crying about it, 5akkerliner got beat, next year is 6.

That article has to be fake news. It’s been stated time and time again in this thread, Clemson’s Defense “stopped” USC’s Offense. Venables (and the rest of the college football world) must’ve been watching a different game. He’s only one of the top Defensive Coordinators in the country (and has the highest total value contract of $11.6 million and second highest annual salary of $2.3 million per season), but what does he know.

And he also knows it wasn’t because of his Defense.

Whose defense was it then? A 21 point margin of victory seems fairly decisive, by any other standards?
Bang,
Think about your statement regarding Dabo ending the game early by running on the field and “how would it affect the outcome of the game?”
If it wouldn’t have, then why did Dabo not go into a V formation previously, and instead tried to pile on another 7? If Dabo would have went into the V formation, it wouldn’t have affected the the outcome as the game would have been over, correct?
Dabo didn’t want to fall from #2 to possibly #4 and have to meet Bama early as Saban/Bama would have plenty of time to game plan just as they did last year.
If SCar would’ve score another TD with one second left, and then just decided for the heck of it to go for 2 and rub it in a little… How would that have impacted Clem in the rankings?
Also, in the above scenario of SCar getting one late, and 2 on top… What would the Clem fans be like then? Heck, they were unhappy with the win to begin with because they know it exposed their over hyped defense/program for what it is, are worried because the gap is closing with SCar, and their NC hopes are waning…

Sounds like a pretty well thought coaching strategy to me?

Yes, a 21 point win is a decisive win but it wasn’t obtained because of the Defense’s quality of play. Had it been a 21-0 or 28-7, then you could say the Defense “stopped” USC’s Offense. This game was an Offensive shootout. That’s not my opinion. The box scores bear that out. Clemson’s Defensive Coordinator acknowledges his Defense played a poor game but for some unknown reason, you believe the Defense “stopped” USC’s Offense. The only thing that “stopped” USC’s Offense was the end of the game. Georgia, Kentucky, Florida, Texas A&M and Tennessee’s Defenses held USC to fewer points than Clemson’s Defense did yet Clemson’s Defense is higher ranked. Using your logic, USC fans could say their Defense “stopped” Clemson from scoring 57 points.
Give credit where it’s actually due…to Clemson’s Offense. If you have to give credit to the Defense, give it to USC’s Defense because they couldn’t stop the opposing Offense either. Neither Defense has anything to be proud of from that game and I believe both coaching staffs acknowledged as much.

Cool! But, where we are now is, Clemson had a suck game on defense and won by 21 points. Bentley had a banner day on offense, and lost by 21 points. All of the stats, facts, and scenarios won’t change a thing…

Nah, it was a “moral loss” for Clem fans:
https://www.thestate.com/latest-news/article222170225.html
The best parts were:
*Bentley hanging 510 yards (2nd most @ Dabo valley) on the 2nd ranked defense in the country at home…
*Rick Sandidge outmanned wilkins on the Oklahoma drill at the goal line on CW’s first attempt to score. Sandidge dominated Wilkins, and CW had that Taj Boyd look knowing he just got man-on-man beotched slapped by a true freshman…
*And, finally, Muschamp and co. out coaching Dabo and co. with a nothing roster due to injuries…
In the end, SCar and Clem are tied over the last 10 years. Nothing more, nothing less. They are equals…

Except for the fact that one team has a National Championship, and one doesn’t.

Carolina played a great game, especially with showing new bunch formation sets on offense. It’s nice when you basically have two weeks to prepare for us.

Or USC’s defense could’ve stopped Clemson from scoring. I have no problem with a coach running up the score. Players are coached and taught to never give up and push had the entire game. They shouldn’t have to reign themselves in. It’s the Offense’s job to score and the Defense’s job to stop them, period.
I have no doubt a 21 point win helped Clemson’s “quality of win” better than a 14 point win or a 7 point win against an unranked opponent but that’s the world college football has become. That doesn’t negate the fact that USC’s Defense could’ve stopped Clemson from scoring, but they couldn’t rise to the challenge. Me personally, I’d rather lose outright knowing I faced the best my opponent had t

So are you finally accpeting the facts I’ve been giving you? Both teams had banner games on Offense and forgettable games on Defense and in the end, the better team won. I’ve been saying that all along, MN.

Reality is Clem was caught cheating in 1981, and the one over Bama was because Kiffin left a week before the NC game…
If it wasn’t for 5 points in Columbia… SCar would have prolly 5-10 NC in football… These are facts…
