Just because you drove from way up north and paid way to much for a beach front house doesn’t mean you have sole access to the beach in front of you. Your domain stops at the end of your front door steps.

What if the current mean high tide line is underneath the house?
Actually had a friend who had a renter ask them to move, and insisted her rental agreement include the beach in front of the house. They moved bc it was easier than arguing, but people later in the day refused as they should have.

The renters have yankee written all over them!

How far north is yankee?
I think the Mason Dixon line is the northern border of Pennsylvania. I think. It’s not a Yankee thing for me it’s just being ignorant. Here’s the scenerio. I hit the beach acces with the family, my beach cart, and rods and reels. I took a right and walked with the cart I tow until an empty spot presented itself on the beach. I stopped and started putting up my tent. Contestant number one showed up and told me not to set up there that they rented the house behind me on the beach. After going back and forth for a few minutes she left and a guy came back. He stressed his concern about the situation and I assured him even though I had a rod and reel I was probably not going to fish because the water was so rough and wind was howling and if I did I would surely not hook his family if they were swimming. He seemed ok with that and left. Here comes contestant number three and I will say she was the most irate. She went on to tell me how much the house was and this was their section of beach. I told her to go back to her house and call the police. She stated that they have already called. Then I said go back to your house and when they get here we will talk about it. She finally left and after 30 minutes came back and set their beach chairs up two foot in front of my tent. So I guess the police could not help her. Not another word was said. Keep in mind I was not on the flat part if the sand. It was dead low tide I was half way between low and high tide line

I think that means you are allowed to sit on their deck or porch, maybe in the living room, as long as you don’t cross that tide line
I had a friend with an old beach house on Folly. At high tide the water would be 4’ deep under the house. He had a pool table and the balls would roll around the table with every wave. Great sunrises. House didn’t survive Hugo.

I can’t believe some people. When I lived on James island and fished the folly, there was one guy that sat on his dock and yelled at you if you fished anywhere around his dock.
I think he got into an altercation with someone more knowledgeable on the laws and found out he did not own the water.
I did go by his dock one day and he would fire up his boat and blast it in gear to churn up the water and scare off the fish.
If I am not mistaken, he had one of those “Native” stickers on his dock.

Yankees. I’ve worked in the northeast enough to see how bad it is up there. What’s even worse is west of there. New Englanders are actually some pretty chill folks. Go a little west of there and you find the miserable people. I think I’ve nailed It down to a few states. Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Southern Michigan. Also northern W. Virginia and western Pennsylvania. They call that the rust belt and wow, what a miserable place with miserable people. Not a blanket statement, because there are exceptions. The problem that we face is when they come here to muddy our water after they have polluted theirs. Don’t have a problem with them bringing their dollars here but d@mnation, leave the awful politics up there. If you want to move here to be happy, fine. Just be happy with your southern blessing and get the d@mnable Yankee chip off of your shoulder. The answer is NO. If you “came” here at any point in time you’re not a f’ing native, local or anything else that looks cool on your bumper sticker. You’re a transplant, a migrant, a halfback, or long term snowbird. Do not destroy our ground and home with the ideals, politics, and attitudes with which you destroyed yours.
Rant concluded.

That’s a pretty good one. My family’s had a beach house on Edisto for going on 20 years. What you did sounds perfectly fine. We’ve lately had a new trend of people coming up 5 feet in front of our deck and plopping up their Ohio State canopy tent for 3 days. Seeing as our house is very low to the
Mathew, you hit the nail right on the head with a big hammer!!
I don’t think it is a Yankee thing but a lack of common sense and manners.

Good theology there Cracker. Just a minor edit. It’s “Rock”, singular, with a capital R, and it ain’t referring to Dwayne Johnson.
