After his strong showing against FSU I said I’d need to see more to become a full believer (anyone can have a hot game or two). But I have to admit, he’s been pretty convincing. Seems like he has all the tools and his head on straight, which unfortunately seems to be an extremely rare combination.
Way too early for praise. Be encouraged? Heck yeah. Heap glory on him? No. Not yet.
Consistency will tell the tale. One or two games doesn’t make a superstar, a season of it does. Though it is hard to find fault with his performance as a true freshman at this point. If he and Williams, Scott, Kitt, Hopper and Peake can continue to gel, they’ll be hard for anyone to defend. Get Gallman and Choice running the ball and Dye healthy for once, they’ll be hard to stop.
Hope y’all enjoyed the 5, it’ll start going the other way this year.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Salty, add in soon to arrive 5 stars Deon Cain and Ray Ray Mccloud and our by far best OL class ever it could get nasty.
But for now luckily he has been able to move the pocket because or OL sucks.

Seems like you have a little contradiction going there. Dabo consistently puts together great classes on paper, and for five straight years he’s managed to squander it. Maybe let’s let the guy actually develop talent and beat someone a little more impressive than Georgia Tech or Maryland for a few seasons before we get too carried away.
I have said the kid is good and will do great things for CU. But it was UNC. EAST CAROLINA PUT UP 70 points on that D1 defense.
I agree with the first part of salty’s statement. Consistency will tell the tale.

Contradict??? Not at all, by the time they play Sakkerliner, they’ll be a pretty cohesive unit. If Sakkerliner’s defense doesn’t get better at pressuring the QB coupled with the terrible secondary, it’ll be ugly early and often.
I’m not signing the kid up for a Heisman, but the more experience he gets, the more comfortable he gets, the better and more consistent he’ll be.
Clemson’s main key for the offense is getting the

Tahj Boyd was supposed to be a really good QB as well. Can someone tell me his record against South Carolina?

I believe it was the same as Sakkerliner’s was against Charlie Whitehurst.

Because it’s already starting to show. There is definitely problems in the running game at Clemson, but that will open up a little now because teams won’t be able to stack the box or Watson will carve them up. South Carolina’s defense is horrible against the pass and ain’t getting any better. They are going to have to outscore teams to win.

Dylan Thompson has the same affliction that Tajh had and that Cole Stoudt has. That being the “oh crap” look in the eyes when under pressure and then the performance matches. I went to the SC Mizzou game and he did more “happy feet” dancing in the pocket than anything else. The result?? Usually over throwing the receivers. Hate to say it, but the state of the QB at SC is dire. Thompson has the skills, but not the nerve. Watch Watson’s eyes when he plays…calm and collected and he was playing high school ball this time last year!! That kid is a one of a kind. Going to be interesting watching him the next few years.

He is actually starting this weekend due to the starting QB being injured.

Tajh was a better leader, and Hurst was a better pocket passer. Stoudt is a little of both. Watson has to develop both skills some more, but he makes up for what he currently lacks with some intangibles you don’t often see in college games.
The stats aren’t as big of a deal as what you see when you watch them in person. I have seen some unbelievable QB play from guys Clemson has had and played against.
Watson has a lot of what Shaw gave y’all. You can see it when they play and they do what you least expect. It’s when you say, “____ couldn’t have done that.” It may not necessarily show up in stats.
Watson doesn’t know the offense that well yet. Watson wasn’t in the game for 3 drives against UNC. And UNC loaded the box to stop him from running.
I think us fans need to be patient and not expect him to be a world beater. I am hoping some good OL recruits see him and pick us over the usual suspects. I am tired of seeing us have quality talent everywhere but OL. We keep expecting the OL to be coached up while other schools start out with kids with better stuff in the toolbox than we have.
