Can anyone give a ‘local’ opinion for the fog forecast for Saturday? I make day trips down to fish, coming from York County. If the fog is going to be real bad, I may need to defer my plans. Can anyone provide me with input.

The weekend forecast is for continued warm moist air in the area. With the 53 degree water temp, I would say some fog is very likely at least until around 10 am. You might check NOAA weather for someting more official.

The NOAA forecast calls for ‘patchy fog’ with some dense fog areas for all of Georgia and SC coastal areas. I was looking for more of the local input to help me decide. I usually get on the road by 4:15 in order to make it a full day, so being able to make an informed decision ahead of time is important.

Savannah was calling for dense fog this morning and tomorrow…however, there was no fog here in Beaufort.
Friday morning we had dense fog in the general area of where Whale Branch river empties into the Coosaw. It burned off around 8:30 am.

Thank you Rick and wildifesc. Burning off by 8:30 sounds great as that is about the earliest time that should be getting on the water. It takes me roughly 4 hours of driving to get down there.

It doesn’t look like today will work. There is dense fog up here in York County, and according to NOAA, the entire state is under a dense fog advisory. BUMMER

Goes to show you really won’t know how it’s gonna be until you get there. Several places today were socked-in with fog today and others were clear.
About 7am yesterday I did discover that Columbia, Beaufort, and HH have many traffic web cams on line. Some aren’t accurate or werent updating, but I did find another resource to use in my decision making for the future. As it turned out Columbia was clear and it looked spotty at the coast. It happens.
I took my son out on Lake Wylie for the day though. Fishing was not very good and I found that I have not been keeping up with my freshwater tackle. Eventually I shifted to teaching my son how to drive the boat and I practiced throwing my new cast net (I need a lot of practice). All in all, not a bad day - 72 degrees and partly sunny on Jan 12th. Good enough.
