Wed folly 4/2

Hit several sets of groin on falling tide along the S/W end of folly. Threw normally productive grubs and shrimp on dropper loops. Not 1 bite in 1.5hrs. Looked pretty good but the fish were not there. Stopped and looked where the dredging is going on and it looks to be a while before the silt and stuff settles out. There’s the current report take the good with the bad. Nice day

I think the renourishment is going to ruin the surf fishing on Folly for the next couple years barring a big storm washing the sand away. I live near 11th street and the sand is covering up the rock groins pretty good. The groins are the only structure on the beach so the black drum and sheepshead will go elsewhere to find something to eat. Plus the fact that the holes created by the groins will disappear. Maybe the surf fishing at the ends of Folly Island will be ok or better due to the fact that renourishment does not extend that far. Sullivan’s Island or IOP here I come…
