Let me try that again - with reading glasses on - you think we can sneak up on good weather this week?

Not if you keep talking about.
First rule of fishing club is you don’t talk about fishing club weather.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Reading glasses or not,I still don’t get it…If your gonna go then go…Pay thousands of dollars for a boat, gear n gas and ask if others think it wise to venture out.Shudda saved your money and got on the match up forum…Ride w somebody that knows how to read the forecasts and don’t need permission from someone they never met…

My thoughts exactly. That’s a question you’ll never hear from me. If you need to ask the Internet gurus, it’s probably best to stay home.
Everybody has different boats, designs, sizes, qualitiy, all with different limits and capabilities. Everybody has different skill levels with personal limits and capabilities, which are more important than the boat. Different ages, different tolerances to seas… You’ve got to know you and you’ve got to know your boat. Then you’ll know if it’s time to fish.

But that’s the problem. The internet has created a whole new level of neophyte offshore fisherman that has absolutely zero business fishing offshore. “Can I take my 20’ bay boat offshore?” Sure you can, dumbass. It’s amazing someone hasn’t died since all the hey-bos, come-yas, yankee transplants, and downright r-tards have started fishing offshore.
Next time you come in, come heavy, or not at all…
Dang guys, calm down. I think it was just an invitation for conversation, not a request for approval.
If one of your buddies asked you the exact same question, would you interpret it is him asking for your permission? It just sounded more like a roll call to me.

Not permission, but lack of confidence. And (**() if I want a person in charge of taking folks 60 miles offshore to lack confidence in something as simple as evaluating a weather forecast. And don’t confuse the confidence with ignorance…the 20’ bay boat warrior is the latter.

I was making simple conversation - I did not realize that this is a closed club - I’m 64 years old and been fishing offshore since I was a teen. I have never seen such a reaction to a post - I wasn’t criticizing anyone or commenting on their catch or fishing methods. You guys make alot of assumptions, all them very negative. If I in anyway stepped on someone’s toes or broke some sort of ‘protocol’ here, why don’t one of you simply PM me and set me straight. To publically bash someone you do not know with dispersions of their intentions, skills, experience, or character sends a negative message to other readers and potential, new members . . . members who well may have substantial experience on the water but not hundreds of posts on this forum . . . and yes, sometimes the two are mutually exclusive.

Well I’m over it now - let’s all go fishing, take a kid if we can, have fun, and return home safely.

Not a closed club at all. The superstition and general consensus is you just don’t talk about the weather, especially if it is forecast to be good, bad juju for those of us job bound during the week.
Don’t take it personal.

I hear tidal rails really turned those statistics around.
But really the weather looks great through monday. Just watch the t-storms… and yes I realize I just jinxed the entire forecast (hand to face)

From what I see, I think you could fish out there for the next couple of days in a jon boat.
