Will be down in Folly from the 26th-1st looking for what species I should target. I normally fish the northern inlet but dabbled a bit with the southern one last year. Traditionally went down in August and did well carolina rigging live mullet for reds and trout along with crabs for bonnet heads. Last year was my first year down in May and didn’t do too hot from the surf. Had a hard time finding live mullet to throw and guess the bonnet heads weren’t around.
From what I gathered May looks like sabiki rigs and targeting kingfish, pompano, blues would be the ticket. Anything else worth targeting?
You’ll definitely catch bluefish
Took me a second to realize you weren’t talking about the big kingfish lol was like what sabiki is he using

Just spent a week at Edisto State park. Caught maybe 60 kingeys/ whiting. four pompano. couple of sharks. And on the long cast caught some spot. Made cut bait from them and caught several weakfish. No blues. Bloodworm Fishbites 1/4" pieces works best.
Put the 0630-1230 shift in today on the north end of island. Early hooked a few kingfish and one decent bonnethead. Then around 1015-1130 non stop action with kingfish and spots with a surprise black drum and decent speckled trout Ocean was flat but water was a little dirty. Back at it tomorrow.

Fished today 0600-1100 action was slower then yesterday but still caught a bunch of fish. Started with two rays a few spots, some surprise speckled trout, and one snapper blue. As the morning went on picked two bonnet head, one flounder which was a nice surprise , and a bunch of king fish. Hoping for the same action tomorrow morning. Water was pretty clean and the south wind helped keep the bugs off.

Had to try a wind protected spot today as the wind and current were cruising. Fished 0630-1100. Had a real rough start went until around 9 without a fish. Finally keyed in hooked an awesome large Pompano. After that kingfish and spot every cast for an hour and shut down. Nice to catch a couple fish in tough conditions.
