Week of the 4th

I will be off work the week of the 4th, don’t go back until the 10th!!! Weather permitting, would like to get a couple of days of diving/spearfishing in. Would be willing to take my boat or yours and split costs. I am in Mt P and usually launch from the Shem Creek landing. If anyone is interested shoot me a text.

Cheers,

Had a great day this past Sunday with Mike and Capt Joe. Left Shem creek around 6am and rigged up out first tanks and gear on our way out of the creek. As we cleared the jetties it got pretty sloppy and we cruised at about 18 kts to our first dive spot, about thirty miles out and 100 feet. Found a couple of live bottom areas that were interesting to look at but held little wildlife. So we decided to cruise over to the y-73 . Found a plethora of barracuda and AJ circlimg the boat to see what we were up to. Through some lines in and Mike and Joe hooked up with a couple of AJ that put up a tremendous fight. I tossed a jig in and instantly had a nice Cobia, about 25 pounds, on the hook. First fish for the cooler.

We suited up and dropped down to the wreck which was teeming with activity. Saw a ray that had to measure 16 feet across accompanied by a couple of nice cobia. Did not get a chance to pull the trigger but did ambush a nice flounder napping on the bottom. We made a couple of laps around the wreck, saw a few small grouper, a nice group of sheepshead and at least a million BSB. Ran my tank down to zero, dive computer alarming, and finally came up with my limit of BSB, a nice flounder, and a sheepshead.

Ride in was much smoother and we made great time. Can’t wait to do it again.
