Times are indeed changing for the in-state football rivalry with Clemson and South Carolina.
Former Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurriers’ 66 foot banner of himself is being removed from Williams-Brice Stadium on Wednesday morning. The banner was hung on the Stadium in August 2014.
Spurrier is South Carolina’s all-time winning coach with 86 victories but abruptly resigned in the middle of the football season.
Clemson defeated South Carolina 37-32 on Saturday and finished the season with a perfect 12-0 regular season while the Gamecocks dropped to 3-9 on the season.
South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner is currently interviewing potential candidates for a new football head coach.
