What did you catch in 2011?

As I am sitting on my couch at home I was thinking about all the species of game fish I landed on my little 20 footer this year. It’s a pretty diverse list.(and yes the short days and slow fishing is starting to get to me)

Sheepshead, Black Sea Bass, Red Drum, Black Drum, Flounder, Sea Trout, Spanish Mackeral, Various sharks, Cobia, Sailfish, Dolphin, Barracuda, and Bluefish.

I’m pretty happy with it. It’s almost like collecting merit badges! Just wondering did anyone collect them all off of one boat?

Well I’m relegated to land so no… Not even close. Did manage a good variety from the piers and from an awesome head boat trip in murrells inlet.

Cannot wait to go on the overnight trip in may with those folks up there. Nice to know there is.a good boat that I can get more fish than I could ever keep.

May is a ways off but I will be patient :stuck_out_tongue:

that’s an impressive list, karl! i got all of those in 2011 from a 14’ aluminum boat except for cobe, sail, phin and cuda, had a shot at cobes and cudas while out solo in june.

not gamefish, but by the numbers i also put a hurtin’ on the following: whiting, oyster toadfish, rock sea bass, pinfish, pigfish, silver perch, burrfish, puffers, needlefish, hermit crabs, sea urchins, channeled whelks, stingrays, old boots, tires, and things at the grillage that don’t move when you pull on them.

last year honorable mentions: personal biggest fish ever, a 12’ tiger shark in port royal while cobia fishing in may; personal best flounder, 4lb 6oz from the harbor; collected a possession limit of scrimps for the freezer in sept/oct; got a wonderful wife and turned 30 in november; second best sheep in december at 9lb 10oz, then received the nicest inshore setup i’ve ever had for christmas.

here’s to another awesome year in 2012, y’all!

Had my 8th back surgery (4 level fusion)in May so I caught all y’alls fishing reports, thanks!

All that from an aluminum boat. Now that’s impressive. Next year I’m adding spadefish, kings, and wahoo to that list.

Dolphin, Wahoo, Sailfish, Tripletail, Almaco Jack, Jack Crevalle, Amber Jack, Lookdown, Tarpon, Permit, Triggerfish, Mangrove Snapper, Red Porgy, Yellowtail Snapper, Lane Snapper, White Ggrunt, Red Grouper, Black Grouper, Gag Grouper, Goliath Grouper, Hogfish, Black Sea Bass, Pinfish, Bank Sea Bass, Lizardfish, Sheepshead, Spottail Bass, Speckled Seatrout, Flounder, Black Drum, Bluefish, Lady Fish, Whiting, King Mackerel, Cero Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Barracuda, Blackfin Tuna, Skipjack Tuna, Little Tunny, Moray Eel, Stingray, Bull Shark, Bonnethead Shark, Nurse Shark, Caribbean Reef Shark, Atlantic Sharpnose Shark, Gafftopsail Catfish

I think that’s about it.

Have to do this… you caught a dolphin in a 14’… You THE MAN!!

I think this year I’ll devote more time to fishing than shooting things.

It really seems that Rap is the man!!! Way to go!!

Didnt fish enough this year but did pretty good.
Mostly flounder, redfish and some toadfish. No trout. Did get some porgies, b-liners, trigger, BSB and amberjack. Got a good bit of shrimp in the freezer too. Only a few days on the water in 2011 but all real good days. Oh yea, caught swine flu last January.

Only made it down a few times last year…all toward the end of the year. Caught some reds, sheeps etc…Nothing out of the ordinary except for this little guy, which was pretty cool. Hadn’t caught one since I was a kid.

Also, for those with an Android phone and take it with them fishing…There is a fish logger on their market (it’s probably on the iTunes store out there for all those folks who wasted their money!! lol) With this fish logger you can log your species, location (gps and map), type of bait along with other important information. I just got it and haven’t had a chance to use it yet…but it seems like a helpful way to keep logs on these things without getting notebook pages wet!!

We were grouper fishing that day and caught nothing but ARS at that spot. Had to move on. Sad really. The NMFS has NO CLUE just how healthy our offshore fishery is in SC.
