New transformer and temporary pole. Berkeley Electric ran everything underground for free. They said it was easier and less expensive for them. Very happy with that!
This was last Friday at 60 mph. I’m amazed at the risk people take for nothing that also endanger others! This is a common occurrence each month along my commute or trips to the coast.
Going to lay this one up for “future reference” while its running as good as ever. It’s a little over 25 years old now, time for a break. I hear all the new kids are running 4 strokes now-a-days, so I might give one a whirl.
So anyway, I completely flushed the system with CLR and vinegar for hours to remove as much of the “stuff” in the water jacket as possible, then I put a new impeller and housing on, greased the shaft good, installed a new thermostat and poppet valve, ran the carbs dry, put new plugs in after spraying the cylinder walls and turning over the motor, changed the oil in the foot, took pictures of everything as it came apart, sprayed the block down all over with WD40, and hung it up in the dry.
If I was a rodeo cowboy and this 2 stroke yammy was a prize angus heffer, well, I’d be standing over it right now, arms in the air, my brand on its arse, smoke hanging in the air, and paymaster getting ready to give me my check and blue ribbon.
These old Yamaha 2 strokes are hard to find in good running shape and people are willing to pay a war pension for one. I’m really surprised at its current value when comparing on marketplace, hull truth, and boat trader.
But really nothing surprises me anymore as far as how much folks are willing to pay for stuff. beats all I’ve ever stepped in, that’s for sure
