it’s off the tip of parris island.
Have you actually seen that in the water first hand? Or is it only showing up on Google earth?

PI reef?
No, I don’t think so, it’s a mile or so downriver from the PI reef and closer to shore. Interesting. I don’t know what it is, but I know the numbers now. I’ll check it out for sure. Thanks for pointing it out:smiley:

Not sure, but if you figure it out I’m sure it would tell us something about these…
I’m thinking the aliens are getting tired of the corn fields
Kind of looks like the old pierced steel planking the military used for runway building! It was also used on sand and loose or soft dirt, so you could drive wheeled vehicles over it.
I’m quite certain those are farmed clams on a shellfish lease. i’ve seen the guy working out there several times.
Where is the other photo from?

Certainly not p.i. reef. Cracker when/if you check it out please post, that’s got me curious. I’ve been all around that area and not seen that or at least not noticed it. google earth is some neat stuff.

I can verify the shellfish harvesting on my photo. Haven’t scoped out the PI photo but it does look very similar. My photo is from the flats between St. Helena and Hunting Island. I first noticed these shapes when flying in a small plane overhead. Took the boat out to investigate and they had little signs posted that they were shellfish grounds.
…and I was thinking treasure
The long rectangular black strips are from former phosphate strip mining operations from the late 1800s. They would take the phosphate to the Port Royal marina and convert it into fertilizer. This is the process that caused all the contamination at the marina that they had to clean up a few years ago.
HaHa Chris, I was thinking the alien thing too!
Offshore this tuesday, Can’t wait man!
