I will be heading to edisto for the first week in August and was wondering what would be the best thing to fish for and if the shrimp would have any size on them by then.
Spottail are scattered. People have been catching trout, but all I can manage are a few shorts. Catching a few flounder fished with mudminnows reaaaaal slow on the bottom. If you want consistent action and a good mess of fine eating fish, get you a double drop rig and some shrimp and fish for whiting out in the mouth of the river. Scale them, fillet them, fry them in 1/2 house autry and 1/2 cornmeal. It don’t get no better.
Shrimp were small two weeks ago but catchable… Really didn’t need them, trout are hitting DOA’s & grubs under popping corks. I also saw a guy tossing something, I guessed mud minnows?, up into 3’-5’ on the bottom during the falling tide and catching reds… I didn’t try it but he looked like he was having fun!
Good luck!
