Janjangbureh — One Abdoulie Keita, a fisherman, age 25, a Malian, has narrowly escaped death, after he was attacked by two hippopotami in the Central River Region (CRR).
The incident happened on Wednesday night, on December 8 around Sapu area while he was on his way for fishing. Narrating the incident to journalists, the victim, Abdoulie Keita, said he and his brother were attacked by the hippos and they managed to escape.
He further stated that when the hippos attacked them, their boat capsized and they managed to swim out of the river. The two brothers are residents of Bansang Town in the Central River Region.
Hippos are seen to be on the rampage in the Central River Region of recent and it could be recalled that a month ago farmers from Jabi Faro in Niamina district also complained that hippos in their area destroyed their rice fields and threatened rice growers in the area.
