Looking for a couple of spots to pick up some
shrimp for bait or a few to eat. My little shrimp hole back in the marsh is only holding mullet. Any suggestions ? I don’t have the gear, license, or the know how to do the baiting. General guidance would be appreciated. No need to give up secret spots.
Any info on tide stages, types of bottoms, creeks , flats, or depths would be great. Thanks!
Try free casting where smaller creeks flow into larger creeks at low tide when the water is not in the grass. Make sure its muddy bottom - shell bottom will destroy a net.
Hour or so before low tide… Mud banks preferably where there are very few oyster beds. Cast your net right where the water meets the mud… Also where any small feeder creeks dump out make sure you hit the mouths of them with the net. The bait has to follow the tide out or they will get left high and dry.
