Where's the Tackle Shop?

I’m down on the beach vacationing this week, and I realized last night that I don’t have any heavy mono or steel leader. Where is a good tackle shop here on the island? Helpful advice at the shop would be nice, but a great selection is more important.

Best bets on the beach are the Marina and EWT. ACE Hardware also has some tackle.

There is no true tackle shop on the Island but you can find a little tackle at the Gas station by the Pig, Ace hardware going back off the island right past the Edistonian. The Edistonian also has a decent selection of terminal tackle. I believe the marina also has a little tackle as well. I normal go to Ace or the Edistonian if a need a few things like hooks, bait, leader, etc. Hope this helps.

The Edistonian had all the basics I needed. I was pretty impressed with the selection. I didn’t find any wire, fluorocarbon, or mono leader to make my own, but they had the pre rigged stuff. I’m not trying for a record catch, just trying to keep it as simple as possible anyway.

I thought the lady at the register in there seemed a little snobby. My wife was in there yesterday and said the same thing.

Thanks for the replies.

If you stay long enough, you’ll realize that the folks at the edistonian are some of the nicer ones down there. Most of the locals we dealt with were rude. We ate breakfast at the seacow. They won the award for rude. But we still had a grand time and caught lots of fish in Scott Creek. If you get a chance to loaf a little outside of ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ out Donnelly wildlife management area. Take 174 back to 17, turn left and go about 20 miles til you see a brown sign pointing you to it. Awesome place…100’s of gators

and it’s free

If you go to the Edisto Marina, take an extra wallet and bend over…

Most of the places on Edisto are surprisingly well stocked with the basics

AMEN! Isnt there still a little place that has bait and tackle on the right side, has a dock on the creek, as you are heading to the Marina? I think they have a restaurant or bar or something upstairs? On Docksite Road across from the condo ponds?

So I think there is the hardware store on the way into the island, the edistonian, the grocery store, the gas station next to the grocery store, this upstairs bar place on docksite road and the marina? I prefer the hardware store on the way in myself
