Who is the best in Edisto (Guide)

I know this could be a touchy subject so if you have someone in mind and don’t want to blurt it out over the forum PM me with the info. What I am looking for is a great guide as well as a teacher(which can be hard to come by all wrapped into one). My son and I are experienced fisherman just not experienced in inshore salt. We had a bet so to speak on his school work this year. If he made honor roll all year he could pick a fishing trip of his choice to go on. Being that we have a house at Edisto he decided that was where he wanted to go to learn some inshore tips and tricks that he could use for years to come. We are not in any hurry and want to go during prime time for the popular inshore species. Thanks in advance

They are all great. The guides specialize in different areas, methods of fishing, and techniques. I think Ron Davis would fit what you are looking for perfectly.

No love for the ugly duckling?

I’ve never fished with Ugly Ducklin Charters before but I have stopped to talk to Capt’ Steve numerous times on the dock. I can say that if I were to need a inshore guide, he would be the one for me. Steve has always had a very pleasureable disposition about him and is willing to stand and talk to a total stranger (me) for extended periods of time about the ins and outs of fishing around Edisto. From his posts on this site it’s easy to see he knows how to catch fish and takes care of his clients.

Hands down, Capt. Steve Fralin with Ugly Ducklin’ Charters. He is the authority on inshore at Edisto. Check is posts. Good man, good teacher.

I’ve fished with Ugly Duckling 3 times. Cap’n Steve doesn’t have the fanciest boat, and I don’t know if he’s " the best"… But I’ve ALWAYS caught fish and learned a lot about inshore fishing around Edisto.

Is the fishing in Edisto getting any better? We haven’t had much luck there in several years. Most say the fish have moved out of the area for some reason.

Ron Davis hands down. Just look at his standings in the redfish tournament trails. You will learn in 4 hours on the water with Ron more than you can learn in 4 years by yourself.

He must Increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30

I fished with Ron Davis last week and he was terrific. A very considerate guy and good company, he also put us on plenty of fish. There were three reds over slot (to 7 lbs), a half-dozen in slot, some trout to 3 lbs, some undersized fish and miscellaneous.

I spent Friday with Capt Ron Davis. He took me and my wife out and he was a very patient teacher with my wife. We limited out on Specs and had a awesome time. He was helpful, attentive and a joy to be with
