Who Was In the 38LX Fountain at the GTH on 4/25

Whoever was in the Fountain 38LX–I was trying to call you on the radio Sunday, but I couldn’t make out your responses due to interference or something (I’m going to check my radio to make sure it doesn’t have a problem). Anyway, I just wanted to meet you, in case I haven’t already. I was in the white/blue 34 Fountain. You may have already met me or my father (and may even do business with us:question:); but in case you haven’t, I just wanted to give you my compliments on that hot, sexy boat. It’s my personal favorite ride on the water, and a future goal. I also wanted to let you know that we have a special insurance program for Fountains. Call me anytime if I can assist: 1-800-446-1862, 843-795-1000, my cell: 843-509-2526.

P.S. How’d y’all do with the fish Sunday?

just screwing with you. i live in the upstate, have sent you three customers and have never even met you. sounds like a free trip is in order.

dukmon

I think what he meant, no I’m sure what he meant was that it sounded like you were spamming him - kind of like a pop-up ad on the computer.

We know you were just giving a compliment…

That was probably Jim Forshaw’s boat.

That was a SWEET ride!..

Thanks Dukmon! I appreciate it, bud. I look forward to meeting you, and fishing together. Gimme a call. And thanks for the info Rcferdon.

Jenni, I don’t think that’s what Dukmon meant (which is confirmed by his reply), and that’s why I questioned him; because most people on this site know that I financially sponsor this site (see my add on the fishing reports page), and was one of the first batch of sponsors a few years back. So, in part, I, along with the other sponsors, make this site possible, and free for everyone. We obviously get PR and advertising exposure in return. So, it’s expected for me to plug my business evey now and then–especially when I really can save you money (and in the very rare event that I can’t, I’ll refer you to someone who can–no strings).

Example: I wrote Matt D. for $579, and his next best quote was $1,080.

Aside from that though, I really did want to meet the dude in the 38LX, becuase I’m kind of a Fountain fanatic, and I’m just crazy over the LX. We’ve had two 31’s, and have a 34 now, and I just love that boat. The 38LX is the perfect boat to me. 1/3 express bikini-style/family-style yacht, 1/3 speed boat, 1/3 sport fishing boat–and it looks like Angela Everhardt’s prettier sister. I want it.

Call me, Jenni, but first let’s get back to fish-talk. Fishing gets me more excited than working–although offshore fishing is probably the hardest work one will ever do. My aching body testifies to that from my last trip.

Saved me $$$…I’m with Strickland.

lee, a buddy of mine here in greenville has a 38 on order and is putting three yamaha 300 4-strokes on it. he does not have the boat yet due to waiting for the motors to come out. it will be this fall i believe. he narrowed it down to fountain or intrepid and decided on the fountain. he had just sold his 35 contender. when he gets the boat ill give you a call for a ride and ill be sure he calls you first for insurance because you do have true value there. -chip

why did he choose fountain over intrepid??

Schoolsout,

It’s interesting that you said that, because when I first looked at the 38LX, I made a mental note that Fountain had made this boat more like an Intrepid, deck-wise and interior-wise. They have incorporated some of the features into the 38 LX that the Intrepid has been noted for in the past. I have always liked the forward seating in the Intrepid models (wrap-around cushion party couch seats in front of the helm), and some of the other more refined features. That’s part of what makes the Fountain 38 LX so appealing to me. The Intrepid is definitely a sweeeet ride too, especially the 377 WA. They are very solid and well appointed. I have always admired their boats highly, but have never run one. I drooled all over someone’s 36 CC Intrepid a couple of years ago at the dock (hopefully a customer).

Anyway, you usually like what you’re used to. I’m pretty used to Fountains and I LOVE them. I would really like to take I ride in an Intrepid sometime though–or drive one even moreso. The Intrepid 377 WA and the Fountain 38LX look very similar to me, like close cousins.

Isn’t the Intrepid a good bit more expensive than the Fountain 38LX though? I’ve seen some '01 and '02 Intrepid 377 WA’s for sale at around the $270 mark, while the 38LX sells for around $250-ish new. While extreeeemly nice, and very very well built, I think Intrepid is at a higher price point than comparable Fountain models, and I think Fountain may be a little faster on the water (from what I’ve read and heard). But then, Like I said, I’ve never run an Intrepid–and I want to. Honestly, I’m a sucker for any of these kind of fast, sexy fishing boats (Fountain, Donzi, Wellcraft/Scarab, Contender, Intrepid, Yellowfin, etc.). That 357 Cobra cat looks neat to me too (85+MPH with twins–Woah Nelly!).

By the way, our special insurance program for Fountains can also be applied to all other performance-type (SKA-type) fishing boats as well, like Intrepids, Donzis, Contenders, etc.; and we do all other types of boats/yachts a

Sounds like u have a hard life Lee lol. Wish i could get that boat.

That’s because you ride in a cheezy Fountain. bang-bang-slap-splash-bang-bang for 60 freakin’ miles.

hey, i heard a rumor recently that someone lost control of a new fountain in a turn and found out that the trees on the banks of lake hartwell were stronger than the boat. the occupants survived. anyone hear anything about this.

Yep, a 5 day old 42’ tree house.
You can check on The Hull Truth(www.thehullltruth.com), Florida sportsman and also the Anderson Independent Mail(newspaper).

It happened not too far from my house. Luckily it was on a weekday and not much boat traffic and the 2 guys driving were in a turn and something broke and it threw them out. Well luckily it hit a few tress instead of someone, sucker was probably 100’ from the water and the tree split it down to the windshield.

I do know that Fountain sent one of their top engineers down the next day to see what happened but that is all I know at this time.

The owner was not new to Fountains and other high speed boats so this was not some guy showing out.

Also they were not hurt too bad, I think the passenger had a pretty bad cut on his arm but that was it and no they were not DUI. The driver/owner was charged with negilgence but nothing else.

If you have any trouble finding the pictures let me know and I will find them for you.

I know on one of the boards it is listed as “fountain Tree House” and “how not to drive a go fast boat”

heard that he sunk his first fountain(insurance did not pay), didn’t have the kill switch on and claims the trim tab switch got stuck. man, you are talking about a torpedo.

I think the deal on the first Fountian was that he was further offshore than his insurance would cover. It was last year in the Gulf of Mexico(PMCB area) and they lost an engine and then the boat got swamped and he lost the second engine and down it went.

As far as I know there is still a Fountain sitting on the bottom of the Gulf.

Yea that is what I was told that something happened to the tabs, do not know if you have ever had that happen but i can see where it would throw you out. Last yeat I had replaced the pump on my tabs and was by myself and running 25-30 mph on Hartwell and one of the lines blew off. Talk about a sudden jerk. Luckily I was sitting in the captians chair but had I been standing it could have been a lot worse. Also I did not have my kill switch hooked up, ever since then I make it a habit to hook it up.
